have any of you ever had this problem with your nav. system?? sometimes when i start my car and press a few buttons on the screen... it'll freeze. it's really weird. then after i like push every friggin' button around the screen... it works.

 

Yes. It seems to happen when it's cold rather than warm days.

 

oh ok~ anyone else play w/ their map while sitting in bumper to bumper traffic? i do that sometimes... i set it to "east coast" and see how i can get from southern california to busch gardens in florida... lol~

 

Yeah sometimes.
When there's HEAVY traffic on the way to school, I usually rename my marked points that I haven't named, and YEAH I see how I can get to east coast!

Hahaha what's funny was, One time I tried to play with the POI in New York, and I found a street that seemed to be CHINATOWN because all the restaurants on that street were like "****'s Chinese Kitchen" or "Dragon Palace" and even "Emperor's Gardon" hahahahahaha

 

another problem i have is when i need to um... say... go to the closest grocery store so i punch in "Vons" in the thing and it gives me a Vons in FRIGGIN OREGON!!! uh... that's hardly closeby...

 

i have gotten the blank screen problem a couple times. i usually just turn off the car and turn it back on. that usually solves it.

i used to play w/the nav in traffic but after several close calls where i almost rear ended people, i stopped playing w/it so much.

ray, we need our nav's updated. i have the early '99 one and u have the late '99 one. we should go get it changed next time (but not at TUSTIN LEXUS because they have the worst customer service people)

 

i have the late '00 one... got it at longo. which is the most recent one?

 

I live in Seattle and occassionally travel up to Vancouver BC. Does anybody know if the latest upgrade would have maps for both countries? Does the DVD nav have maps for both countries in the GS430?

 

dunno which one is the latest. i believe i get 2 updates. i was going to last year but i heard that update sucked so i held back and totally forgot about updating it until recently.

 

Yeah but what sucks is that my salesperson told me when I bought my car that I get 1 free update. Now everyone says that 2000s get NONE. That sucks. The update is something like 200+ dollars. What a rip. Wish I had DVD nav so it'll only cost like 50 bucks a DVD.

I got the September 99' VERSION. I believe the newest one is December 00', probably the one Jooleee has.
