The turn signal lights from the pre-2001 models don't fit in the 2001 gauge panel, therefore you would have to get the 2001 turn signal lights.

When you take out your existing gauge panel, you will find a wire with the left turn signal, the right turn signal, and the trip computer set/reset buttons on it, all plugging into a port on the actual lighted gauges. That is the wire you need, but the 2001 version, so that it will fit in your 2001 panel.

The old turn signal lights are too big to fit in the 2001 panel, and they are so probably so that people like us don't swap the panels out.

I am sure Steve will be able to fiind the wire, I have already told him to search for it.

Just wait for the wire before purchasing the gauge panel, because you don't want to have two holes in your new 2001 silver-ringed gauge panel, right?

when I say gap, I mean the gap in between the old turn signals and the new gauge panel IF you try to force the turn signals in its spot, they don't look too good when forced in and may fall off at any bump, plus they leave a gap and don't go all the way in the hole because they are too big

Default new discovery

hey people.

I was playing with my gauges and I just pulled the gauge cover off!! Very easy just push up and then pull out.

I disconnected all the harnesses and the wires and found out what nanotech means by the turn signals too big. They're basically big chunks of plastic. Hmm I guess it's too big to fit in the cluster. But basically it's an easy process.

I'm going to do some silver paint work on the disassembled cluster cover. Maybe it could come out better looking than the 2001 ones! And alot more cost-effective too!

I'll keep you guys and ladies informed.

why dont you guys just cut the wire and cut the wire on the new one and take electric tape and tape them together.

when you order the 2001 gauges panel, it DOES NOT come with any wires, it comes ONLY with the plastic cover with the silver rings, that's it !

And the old turn signal lights don't fit in the new holes on the new panel, they are too big.

What we need to do is simply order the 2001 turn signal lights so that they will fit in the new smaller hole provided in the 01 gauges panel.

Without the new wire, the only thing you can do is try to force the old turn signal lights in the new smaller hole. Your risking breaking the light and or the hole in the panel itself, and even if you get it to stay fit somehow, it is not going to be reliable, and it won't look good. I dont have a digital camera so I can't show you guys what I mean.

But just take my advice, if you want the 2001 gauge panel (its the plastic cover ONLY), then you have to get the new 2001 turn signal lights also. And don't worry, I think that the ONLY difference in the 01 turn signal lights and the older lights is that the new ones have a smaller housing, that's it !

Good luck to you all in finding the 2001 turn signal lights&wire (they are all one piece and include the trip computer thingy too, all in one wire)

Even Steve of Carson Toyota said that you can get the chrome ring around the gear shifter only if you get the entire console.

But other dealers say they have them and have actually sold them to many Club Lexus members.

I myself have ordered one from Irontoad.com (they sell wholesale lexus parts, like steve) and am waiting for arrival.

So they do sell it, just look harder if you don't wanna get something from the net (irontoad.com)

make sure that there is a new harness that'll plug right in.

I got some new spendings (like parts price went up) so don't think I can get the gauges yet.

I found out the part number of the turn signal wiring harness and already told Steve about it early this week, he said that cable itself is $75. I went ahead and ordered it because the old one won't fit (and I tried a lot of sanding and cutting, etc).

I would suggest you guys ask Steve to just get each one of you a package deal on both the panel and the wirring, $70 + $75 = $145, maybe he will do $140 if you guys buy both at the same time !

I should have the wire in by early next week and I will tell you guys on how it looks with that.

Talking okay

okay guys here is the deal (which i think will be worked out), the wiring harness itself costs around 75 bucks... but that's be4 group buy. i will try to have 130? or 125 price by group buy, or simply buy it seperately, like buy the wiring harness for 5 .. etc.. so i am aiming at 130.. and we need at least 5 members. so people join up!!

1sicklex, dont' worry about that, the 2001 gauge is black in all color interior, so shouldn't be a problem with that.. for ppl wondering how it would look on other interior color (seige, etc) don't worry, they look as good as you can get..

so let the action begin!

yeah I have beige interior, and I am so glad its black, because the entire beige looks all boring since its all the same, and the suprisingly you have that black speedometer gauge panel with silver rings around it, looks incredible, big big difference, that's money quite well spent in my opinion !

Question Pictures anyone?

I haven't actually seen the new "chrome" gauges to make a decision on upgrading from the old ones. Can anyone snap a few photos and put them up on a web page for everyone to view?
