as far as removing the tailights

im going to say there are

2 10mm bolts

and 2 interior nuts ? once you remove (pull back the carpeting )

thats about it on the removal of the taillight

if im wrong some please correct me
heres some pics

pop these tabs and with a 10mm socket remove the 2 bolts

then pull back carpet and remove these 2 bolts 10mm again i think

then i guess plug what you need to and bolt back

Hey thanks. I was going to have the mechanic do this. But it looks like it might be something that I could actually do.

I love that blue color, what do they call that?

yup all of them are 10mm. the inside ones you need a deep socket to take them off. very easy to do, 10 mins max

Hey guys I changed the tail lights in 25 minutes. Big clap for myself! If you knew how bad I am at mechanical things you'd know why I'm so excited.

I want to thank TLW and Romini for their help. TLW for the directions and pictures, and Romini for mentioning that I would need a 10mm deep socket.

For those of you wondering about what the 2001 tails are going for you can pick them up from Carson Toyota for $310 and that includes shipping.

Thanks everyone
Ivan

hey you are very welcome ivan, that's nothing at all. the taillights swap is so easy to do i am sure everyone can do it. i still remember when i did it i didn't have the deep socket with me so i had to run up and down again just for that. so i remember it well, haha

mine are the same. all you need to do is get some polish and polish out the inner taillights. it has gotten dull over yrs.

heheh.. thanks!

I have polished it. I think I actually over polish my car. the outer ones are a deep dark red. the inner ones right now are a glowing pink color! it gets annoying. I should take some pix.... dont have a camera yet though. my brother lost the charger to his camera. I still owe the forum pix of the new wheels and paint job.

This is where I'm at now. The polish helped but the color is slightly different on the inner ones.
