Default DRLs not working

I'm a newbie to this forum and just got me a 2001 Lexus GS300 and working on mods. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? The high beams work, so the bulbs are ok. The DRLs are not working when I turn the car on anymore.

Thanks,

Check your parking brake. If it's engaged, DRL won't turn on. After you release the parking brake, DRL will turn on.

I tried that and it still doesn't work. Been driving it last couple of days with it not working. Wouldn't the Brake light come on? I don't see it on.

I killed mine by just pulling a fuse under the hood.

Just don't ask me what fuse. it was like four years ago.

I'm gonna look through the manual and see if the fuse is blown. Hopefully it is. I love my drls because it makes my car different from non-drl cars. haha.

Thanks,

I came across this from another forum on how to disable it. I don't know if it really works though.

"There is a small inverter box near the fuse box under the hood. This box has a "warning hot" type label on it. The DRL are plugged into this box. Just pull the plug and the lights won't come on with the ignition. Your high beams will still work. "

Default Pardon me if this comes off as rude...

Have you ever saw them on? If your car is a '98 you dont have drls. The light only comes on @ night and just because your high beams work that doesnt mean the bulb for the other lights arent blown (2 diffrent bulbs) Just my .02. I thought mine were blown too when I got my GS and saw other GS's w/theres on until I found CL and was shown the light.

The DRL are the same bulbs as the high beam just running at half the wattage.

That's true for '99 on. For 1998 there is a small bulb inside the high beam housing (in addition to the hi beam bulb) which comes on with the parking lights or when the low beams are on.

I fixed the problem with the help of JacobT. The parking break was engaged. I barely tapped it and the drls went off.

Thanks guys.
