Default considering buying a GS, but problems?

Hi, currently I have an SC3 but I'm selling it this weekend and I'm considering buying a GS300.

What are some common problems besides rattling and road noises?

It's between a GS300 or 2001 Acura CL-S ( I'm aware of the transmison problem). Which car do you guys think I should get?

man, you know there is a pretty sad tranny problems with those acura auto right? unless you get the cl-s 6 speed, i wouldn't recommend cl, cls, tl, tls... this is coming from a previous tls owner. the cl-s is a lot faster, but you get quality with the gs3

road noise seems to be a problem with the gs to some people. and rattling? i don't think there is any significant rattling?

the GS3 is very reliable. Road noice? It depends on your tire size etc.

My only gripe is... I wish people would stop staring at my car when I'm on the road.

...also, some of the road noise is solved by adjusting drain tubing and
sealing drain holes. you can search for the details but IMO it made a big difference.
good luck whichever way you go.

I am the most **** car owner in the world. GS300 is perfect excpect for rattles and noises. If they do not bother you it is the perfect car, if they do they will drive you nuts!!! The whole Lexus line rattles the ls430, the rx 330, es 330 etc. I am sure to get flames with this post but it is a fact!!!

remember the CL won't be rattle free either-squeaking moonroof, dash rattles, etc. Check out TL/CL forums. I have a 03 TL-s and a 01 GS300, the TL has more noise and rattles than the GS.

There really is no comparison in quality between the two. The leather and all the interior parts are so much nicer in the GS. Don't get me wrong the CL's are nice but the GS is a very significant step up. It also has more room in the front, I'm 6'3" and the GS is much more comfortable.

The GS is softer, quiter, smoother, but not as powerful. Decide what you want, and drive them both to decide.

I have the TL Type-S with A/T and GS400. If I live in a state such as CA without worrying about the snowy winter in the Midwest, I would pick the GS400. If I am considering a V6 or inline 6 RWD Japanese coupe or 4-door, I would pick other Japanese brand with more horsepower than the GS300. The quality of the materials inside the GS is better than my TL.

Yes, if you get the HID option on the GS300, the bulbs are D2R, so does the CL. I believe the older TL (1999-2001) has the D2S bulbs, and newer ones, with the clear lights, they use D2R as well. I used to have the CL-S, and I currently have the GS400, and let me tell you this, I wouldn't trade my GS400 for any Acuras, well, maybe the new NSX. My 1 year old CL had more rattles and noises than my 4 years old GS.

Good luck!
