Default Uneven Drop...???

After my alignement the car rides buttery smooth again but it got LOWER!

Lower is fine but on the passenger's side front it's about .25" lower than the drivers side front. Nobody notices it but I see it CLEARLY! I even see it IN the car!

It rubs on both sides now when I make sharp turns or U-turns. Is this normal??? Should I take it back to the shop that did the alignment.

I have the before and after camber numbers if needed..

Please help,

Darius

Getting an alignment shouldn't have changed how the springs make the car sit. THe height is how they settle, but its weird that they would settle one side higher. They aren't different springs left and right are they? Sorry, I don't have a GS, but I've lowered cars before and never seen this happen.

Darius...

Got pics? What suspension setup are you running now? Coilovers? What is your wheel/tire/offset?

Yah...alignment has nothing to do with how high/low the car sits.

I have brand new ESPELIR Active Super Down springs for Toyota Aristo, 30mm-70mm. Mine are 55mm front and 30mm rear.
www.espelir.co.jp or http://www.mackinindustries.com/espelir_spring.html

Wheels: 19x8 Front, 19x10 Rear

Tires: 235/35/19 Front, 275/30/19 Rear

I'll take photos and post later.

I have to disagree with some other replies here. The camber will affect the height, I have had many cars aligned and have had the camber affect the "posture" of the car. Its not a drastic difference, but enough to annoy a detail oriented owner.

As far as the height difference goes, thats what happens with springs, in my experience though, its always the drivers side that sites maybe .25 lower.

The GS has adjustable Camber links from the factory??? Otherwise unless he has a camber kit, they can't change it.

could it be that the springs were designed with the passenger side lower?
when you get into your car and drive, your car would be even with your weight over the driver's side??

D said it correctly .. if the camber is too neg the tire will tilt inward combine that with the toe being in or out and the illusion can be be the car is sitting at diff heights.. also alexulan comments also imo true , if the spring is not seated right under the upper mount that tooo can cause a very very slight variance...

Darius, check your printout of the alignment after the drop.. alot of alignment shops will not adjust neg camber even left to right (i have seen them try the junk with me ) they will get the toe right and the steer ahead on target but playing around with the camber can be annoying.....

Well...the camber is only 0.2 degrees off between both fronts....so thats nowhere near enuff to create the 0.25" difference in height.

What shocks are u running with these Espelir springs?

I'd suggest you check if the springs are sitting properly on the shock mount plate, if the nut on top of the strut holding the pillow mounts are evenly tightened, etc...

Good luck.

Pete

Darius2004,

I also have these same Espelir springs, and my car is also noticeably slightly lower (to me anyway) but on the DRIVER'S side both front and back. At first i thought it was just the way the car settled, but ur situation is very similar to mine. Is the uneven lowering common with all springs or just these particular ones?

I have had these springs for over a year and im very happy with them, but if i had to do it again i would def get coilovers.

Springs rarely settle evenly due to the fact of the car itself as well as the driver sitting on the seat.

When I had my Eibach springs, the rear passenger side had a 3.5 finger gap while the driver's rear was at only 3 fingers.

After installing my coilovers with the same threads on the left and right side, I noticed that the passenger side is still higher. To compensate, I just lowered the passenger side a lil more.

You can try adding some weight on the passenger side so that you can let the springs settle a little more dynamically.
