Lexus GS 430 - DOA
The insurance company probably got a lot of claims from the same storm. Hopefully they consider it an "act of god" and not raise your premiums.
Just shop around if they raise the rates.
Are you getting another GS?

Thank goodness its totalled....cuz it will never be the same...even if repaired properly.
One man's trash...is another man's treasure. Any chance of removing and selling OEM parts from that totalled car?

I was looking for 2001+ side mirrors.
If not....i wonder if ur insurance company would reveal the name of the salvage yard that bought the car?
Dude...i feel your pain.
I had the exact same thing happen to my 1997 Toyota Avalon. I also learned the hard way that water is not a compressible material.
People must think you must drive insanely fast for that much water to be sucked into the intake.
Folks please rememer that your intake acts as a slight vacuum and it doesn't take much for it to get sucked in.
I chose to repair my car...i shopped around...got a used engine from a salvage yard for about $3000 to avoid going through insurance and getting my premium increased. Once it was repaired, the car was good for another 70,000 miles before i sold it.
A few words of advice, if you are going to swap the engine...make sure you document and get proof that the engine was actually legally purchased (get the VIN #). You will also need to communicate this to the buyer up front as the VIN number on the engine will not match the VIN of the car.
Good luck man.

Any thoughts you may have had about NOT getting FULL coverage are completely washed away now, I bet (no pun intended). Glad to hear that the insurance company is going to take care of you and give you a fair price.
VULTURE PICKINGS: I got dibs on the Wood / Leather steering wheel, and the wood / leather shifter! haha
