Unhappy which one to get

im ready to get another car but don't know which one to get? Ok here is the story i sold my gs 430 (01) a week ago for $38,000 but in the mean time i was lookin into gettin a 2000 MB s500 black on black with 54k asking 30,950. But from some reason i missed my gs like crazy. so i look around for another one and i came across two. the first one is black on black gs 430 01 everyting but on navi ask $30,985 with 40,570 miles on it *it's at a local dealership*, the second one is a midnight blue with black interior, rear spoiler no navi asking $31,920 with 35,797 miles on it *this one is at a lexus dealership*. My question is would it be worth it to go with a lexus from a lexus dealership, does having a cpo lexus really worth it or it doesn't matter? with my first gs i got it from a local dealership and i haven't had a probelm with it. but how do the mb s500 compare to a 01 430. the reason i want to go with the one at the local dealership because its black and i always wanted a black on black gs but if i do go with the other one i might just get it painted. but as u can see im so lost

What year S500? My brother got rid of his 430 for an 03 s500... It is VERY nice. Performance is comparable but the dash is just Awesome. The gadets in the 500 are just too cool. I think it also has the Cruise Control which paces the car in front also.

I love my GS but after being in his s500 if I had the $$ I would probably have to pick the Mercedes.

Have you looked at the LS430? In my opinion the S500 is too "plasticy" inside. The dash is nice and the exterior is stunning. The thing that worries though is reliability. They don't make MB like they used to in the good ole days. When I went to the Lexus dealer, there was quite a bit of S500 and E-class on the lot. The sales guys said most of them traded it in for an LS430. The LS430 is has very very smooth ride, the leather is better quality and most of all, you can't go wrong with a reliability of a Lexus. If mercedes can only make a reliable car like Lexus, I'd get the S-class or the E-class in a heartbeat.

I guess you're trying to decide on the GS's, but I speak a little about the S500.

I agree that the dash is nice, but the +03 seems a little more plasticky but with more chrome trimmings than the <03. The buttons are smaller also but the screen is bigger. Anyways, I have the 01 S500 (11k miles only) non-sport package and back in July 04 I took it in for SRS sensor-faulty sensor on the passenger side. Relays were burnt/shot for the airmatics. Ac relay was also bad so not cold enuf. Driver's seat was loose so they replaced with new bolts. Garage opener antennae replaced b/c needed to be very close to the gate to work. I heard that with the 2000 it's even worse b/c of the new model introduced for that year, plus it's out of warranty. I would stay away from that. Otherwise, the V8 is pretty nice. Hope this helps your decision about the S class.

If prestige, class, image or the somewhat snooty attitude that "I have a Mercedes" is not too important to you, I would personally go for the LS430.

Edit: I bought my GS cpo and thought that it was nice to have that peace of mind. I didn't know much or wanted to deal with any aftermarket warranties.

Test drive both the S500 and the LS430.

You will see why the LS430 has been the #1 luxury sedan.

WARNING: The LS430 is so smooth and quiet, you can fall asleep while driving.

i say ditch the benz cause of reliability, and buy the black gs, the cpo stuff isnt all that important to our lexus vehicles, i think our cars are reliable enough that u wont need it and if something does go bad, it is pretty reasonable to fix, if u were buying a german car though i would get nothing other than brand new, or maybe cpo. dont get the blue one if u dont like the color, go for the black one as long as it is clean and looks like it was well taken care of. good luck.

yea i do want to go with the black one but when i called about it it had a addition 8,000(from 32,930 to 40,570) miles because the owner took it to Fl. during the winter season (he drove it down there and back *from Pa to Fl.*). the impression i was gettin that the owner was using the car as a personal vechiele. the blue one from the lexus dealership have 5,000 miles (35,797) less then the black one but its a $1,000 more
