Default How soon we forget (needed to vent)!!!

Some as you may know me as the constant complainer because of noises or at this point just (1) noise in my center console (GS300) I solved all the other noises. Well I still have not figured out my buzzing center console. At this point it is truely amusing, but until now I did not realize how miniscule of an issue it is. It was not my ash tray wiring. I felted my radio brackets etc. Anyway the point of the email. My father 2001 Buick Park Avenue with 40K miles is making a noise in the front passenger side tire area. After finding his EGR valve bad and replacing and not solving the noise I investigated more. As I investigated I found the outer tie rod end bad on the passenger side to the point the car is not safe to drive. Well going GM, 40K miles on an old mans car and the tie rod is about to break in half. The good news Mr. UAW pride is I can get an aftermarket one for $43 where you proven POS at the dealer is $112. Guess which one I will purchase. I do not think the bad tie rod is the source of the noise probably a bad wheel bearing but I feel he should be able to steer the car.

I am not done yet,

My prized Envoy which I honestly felt was as good or better than Lexus got to visit the dealership today. Why you ask, the GM professional quality vehicle had a .15 cent plastic bracket which connected the door panel to the door. Well we all know it broke so now when you pull the door close the panel bows out. As I see the idiot tech mushroom my door switch plate which he had to remove to get to the bracket I informed him just order a new one since you damaged that one.

I am not done yet,

My brother 2002 Tahoe just had the entire AC system replaced and they charged him $200 to clean his throttle body and told him that was normal every 20K miles.

I forgot how good I had it with my GS300, a little noise, ****, at least it is save to drive and the thing blows cold air and guess what, when I shut the door the door does not come apart.

Thank You Lexus, Thank You Lexus, Thank You Lexus. The dealer just called and said the .45 cent bracket is not going to be covered under warranty because an aftermarket alarm was installed. I informed him the alarm was installed by the dealer that sold me the car (Ron Carter in Houston). The dealer told me the alarm installers overtightened the brackets when they removed and replaced the door panel during the alram install. I told them either way the car is covered by the 3 year / 36K warranty and the alarm is a GM alarm. The whole secret is it would be impossible to break the bracket regardless of how much you tightened the screws, it broke in the elbow!!!! Do Not USE Gay Pontiac in Dickinson Texas. This is the second time they placed blame on the alram and refused to touch it. The first time is when the key less entry would not work. The real problem after I took it to Ron Carter was a pinched wire under the rear seat.

I called Ron Carter and they said they do not take the door panel off just remove the window switch assembly for alarm installs. They install over 200 alarms / month. They informed me to bring it by and they will replace the whole door liner. They informed me you cannot just buy the piece. The door liner is $500. Since I know the piece will break again I am just going to home depot buying a .89 cent right angle bracket and fix it myself.

Once again Thank You Again Lexus. I have wasted 45 minutes on this GM B.S.

There's GM's great service for you. Let them replace the door panel for you and if it breaks after the warranty then do the bracket. Otherwise take advantage of it and get a free new door panel while you can.

XYZ,

I hear you, man. I live in WIndsor. There is a GM trim plant, a couple of Ford plants, and a Chrysler Minivan plant. So thkis town is very domestic. So it came time a couple of years back for my fiancee to buy a car. Just a nice, basic car so she can finish college and get her around. So I recommend...I REALLY recommend she get a Toyota Camry. About as reliable as they come. Well since the money was coming from a trust fund, her parents had to sign the money out to her. And they refused to sign it out on a Japanese car. I just laughed. I knew what would happen. They bought an Oldsmobile Alero. Well, here we are a couple of years later. The Alero has been in for service at least a dozen times. It has been in 4 times alone for the front wheel bearins, which seem to go out every 5000 miles. 4 TIMES!!! It's covered under warranty, but still. While I'm sure the Camry may have had a few issues, I know for a fact a Camry would never, ever be in 4 times for wheel bearings, if ever. She's already decided what her next vehicle is...RX300. I've said thids once, and I'll say it again. I'm an engineer in the automotive industry and I talk to engineers/buyers from domestic and import companies. The first thing out of a domestic customer's mouth is "We have to make it cheaper". The first thing out of an import customers mouth is "We have to make it better". Enough said....

Well said bro!

In reference to this statement -
" The first thing out of a domestic customer's mouth is "We have to make it cheaper". The first thing out of an import customers mouth is "We have to make it better".
You really mean Domestic manufacturer and import manufacturer right?
