Bought My New Gs400
FINALLY,
I have been searching for another GS400 to replace my Alpine Silver 99GS4, and I finally found it...I have to go to Scottsdale, Arizona to get it next week. I bought it sight unseen, but can still refuse it if i don't like it. It is another GS4, but this time, it is Gold with 50,000 miles, It looks incredible, It is a one owner (72 year old man, and 70 year old woman.) They traded it in for a minivan to drive their grandkids around in.
I hope it will still run after all of that babying the old folks did to it. It was always garaged, and never driven in bad weather....(when does it rain in Arizona anyway???) I was skeptical at first, but I got to talk to the previous owner, and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. I know all the old jokes about cars being driven to church on Sundays by little old ladies from Pasadena. I generally shy away from such cars, but I was able to check out everything on the Lexus registry. It has had every service done at Lexus on time, so I am HOPING it is in good shape.
Here are 4 pictures..

FINAL PICTURE
LAST ONE!!
The picture of the radio was requested by me, because the 1999 GS's with the Pioneer Radio have been known to have a fading LCD display. I had that entire radio replaced by Lexus on the first GS4. I wanted to be sure the radio was fine. $600 dollars is a lot for a radio from Lexus. Maybe I will put one of the Navigation systems mentioned elsewhere in the forum. I'd like to have one.

BOUGHT IT FROM AUTOTRADER
No I did not use EBAY this time. I shopped for GS4's from Maine to California. Some are very good cars, and some are not so good. I have a better idea of what to look for since this will be my second Lexus. If this car is as good as it looks, I will be extremely happy.
I wanted the navigation package, but could not find one equipped the way I wanted it. I didn't want a black one, and many Navigation packages are in black cars. I also had a tough time deciding between 16's and 17 inch tires. I drove a few cars with the 17 inch wheels, and the tire noise was unacceptable for me. For others, it would probably be fine, but I didn't like the ride or the noise with the 17's.
I found this one at a specialty dealership that had great upscale vehicles of Japanese and German heritage. I stay away from Lexus dealerships like the plague when buying a car because they are always priced too high for my tastes.
As it stands, I paid $23,100 for this car, plus tax and license. I don't feel bad because I feel I got a great deal. My credit union gave me a 3.99% interest rate as well, so I have nothing to complain about.
I am very excited about getting my new GS4 next week.

ACCIDENT
Hello again,
I bought my first GS4 back in November 2003. It was an Alpine Silver 99 GS4 with 78000 miles. I did all the major service, including water pump, timing belt, ect less than a month ago. I had an accident on the Coronado Bridge in San Diego on May 11, 2004, and I have been looking for another car since then.
Silver is my favorite color, but it has been hard to find one I liked with the options I wanted. It has been a rough few weeks, and I thought my car would be repaired. But since they totaled the car, I had to start looking for a replacement. I hope I like this one as much as I liked the first one.

Pole Position
Oh yeah. I remember the thread. That's too bad. But at least you're okay. Glad to hear you're getting back in the game.
I bought my first GS4 about 2 months ago. I bought an alpine silver '98 with 54,000 miles. It's in absolutely mint condition -- I mean no scratches, door dings, perfect leather, etc. The only problem is that it's missing a few options that I really would have liked. At the time, I figured you can't shop a used car for options. I had to have alpine silver with black interior, and I really wanted 17" rims and a spoiler. I got all of that, but missed out on the Nakamichi and the HIDs. I could see at some point wanting to change to a car with those options.
