Default Rebadging - exact badge placement on trunk?

OK, so I've taken my own advise and searched for 'rebadge' 'install badge' 'badge placement' etc and found nothing.

I want to put back on a new set of black pearl platinum badges on my GS (old set were removed for paint work on rear) and I need to know how to position them correctly. Of course I could do it by eye and comparing against old pictures of my GS' rear.

However, I know if I get it off 1/2 inch its gonna bother me when I park next to someone with the OEM badges. I asked my service manager at the Lexus dealer how they do it... I expected for them to have some template they put over the back of the car with cutouts or something. They said they take out a ruler and measure to get the placement. Of course I didn't ask what the measurements were so here I am.

Does anyone happen to know the exact measurements to replace badges on the rear of a GS? I assume x down and y across for each part.

PS Oh, and before the question is asked... no, I'm not going to just leave them off or just put back the 'L'. I like the look of the fully badged stock rear, especially the dark badges on a black GS.

If I measured mine, would that answer your question?

Question

I was in the same boat when I had my wing painted/installed. I ended up just redoing them by eye. It looks good (but not perfect) and I'll probably get the correct measurements if I decide to go with chrome badges. For now the smoked badges on the black car w/ that wing are not as noticeable. =)

Yep, probably would - assuming yours have never been removed (car repainted). Oh, and assuming those whacky Canadian Lexus dealers didn't do something different like the headlight washers .

Hameed just got off the phone with me and gave me measurements off of his as well (but from different perspective).

For GS400... from the left hand side of the 'G' to the edge of car is 8 3/4 inches
from the bottom of the 'G' to the top of the inner lights beneath it is 3 1/2 inches

For Lexus... Height is the same, distance from side of trunk lid to the 'L' is 1 1/2 inches
distance to the trunk lid is 8 3/4 inches where trunk meets the body

for "L".... Bottom of circle to where the trunk piece (with keyhole in it) starts is 1 1/8 inches

His trunk is only 48 inches across (just kidding).

Thanks to both of you - this will be valuable next time somebody else (in addition to me) needs to re-badge!

Oh no, thought yours was very useful too! If you still have it saved in clipboard, re-post it. They were from different angles and good to know.

I did mine.

I used brown tape (postal tape) and set the space.

Then, I used the dental floss and other steps from other threads.

The outcome is good. I might post some pics
