Post Lexus Platinum Program - Exteneded Warranty

Hi all,

I remember a while back, few of you were looking extended warranty for your Lexus. Any update?

I got an offer from a dealership asking $1800 for the 7yrs/100k with 0 deduct. Is that a good deal? Let me know.

Thanks

Henry

Is that a Pensake service contract or Lexus? I got quote from Longo too. They were telling me 1495.00 for the Pensake 7yrs/100k program.

If it's a lexus, can you give me the contact info?

Thanks

Are extended warranties worth it? The majority of us will have to spend $2200 for the 7year 100K warranty. The odds of you doing $2,200 in repairs is next to nill. The powertrain is covered for 6 years , 70k anyway. Even if you had an AC failure it would not cost $2,200. Mechanically these cars are built better than any other car I have ever had, no engine vibration, perfect ****s, no rear end noise, they will easily exceed 100K without a failure in my opinion. Other items squeks and rattles the dealers cannot find anyway. Lexus qoutes $800 for a windsheild replacement, my friend had his done for $180 at a windshield place it is the same as mine. If your Lexus has a problem there are other shops out there. I have had my entire interior disassembled looking for noises, it is fairly simplistic worst case scenerio I pay the dealer to diagnose, then I repair myself.

I think $1800 for peace of mind in next few years is worth.

I don't have to worry about insurance company go bankrupt.

I will try to contact more dealers and see if i can get lower price.

It's not as good as it sounds. Lexus will have to contact the extended waranty company to have them approve the warranty/claim. This is what happended when I took my car to the Dealer to have my headlights replaced due to condensation. Lexus wouldn't replace them because the warranty company wouldn't authorize the claim. The warranty company told Lexus that there has to be a collection of water/settled in the headlights before they would authorize the claim. I have a CPO GS3 that I purchased from a Lexus Dealer. If you can get it cheaper and get the same coverage, I would take the cheaper price. It's all the same. On a CPO warranty, Lexus will only replace what's approved by the warranty company. They may vary from Dealer to Dealer. Some things are replaced as of good faith to the customer.

I just bought the Lexus Platinum Program for my 01 GS3.

It's 7yrs/100k with 0 deduct and cost $1700.

It seems like a good deal because it's direct from Lexus, not 3rd party.

PM me if you need the contact info.

Good Luck

How long was your car 'in service' when you bought the Lexus extended warranty? I'm up in Canada, and was told by Lexus that I could get the extended warranty only within two years of the original sale. Is it different in the US?
