Question Is this a good deal?

Hi,

I found one 2001 GS3 with 44k in TX asking for 24k.

It has one owner from TX Local and the dealership told me they got it from trade-in.

Since it's still under Lexus warranty, I am not quite worry about the mechinical problem. I do affraid if it has been accident before.

How do I find out? will it help to hire a inspector to do a throughout inspection?

Need your opinion. Thanks

If you know the VIN # of the car, run a Carfax report, which will give you a detailed history of the car, including any previous accidents or salvaged titles.

Also, you can try out this test the next time you see the GS in person: look for any "bubbling" of the paint on any part of the car's body. This is what's better known as "orange peel", and when you see this kind of paint deformation from a used vehicle, it's a relatively good sign that the car has been in an accident before.

I will sell you my 98GS4 with 41k miles on it and guaranteed to be clean for that price...or a little lower.

this is very true had a 2000 toyota 4 runner and was nailed in the back

a couple of weeks ago there was a free carfax punched in the VIN#

it came back clean no mention of the accident

so be careful when you use carfax

i think each part has the VIN# on it

Not a bad deal but with 24-25k I think you can do better. I bought a spectra blue 00 GS4 from a auction for 26k with 33k miles which I then sold for a price I could'nt resist , then later on purchased another 00 GS4. I agree with romin that carfax aren't always 100% correct , which is why I had a local lexus dealer do a full check up , had no problems or accidents what so ever. Anyhow good luck on your purchase!

thanks for all the replies

I already had the carfax report on this vehicle. It shows no accident and originally registered as private owner.

I also hire an inspector and do the inspection remotely. Hopefully, everything goes well.

I will try to get even lower price from the dealership.

Maintenance Records? Only the Lex dealership and owner would have those records...assuming all maintenance was performed by the dealer.
