Talking New Guy dumb question

Whats up fellow lex luvas I'm new (first post, lurked for a while) and I have a question I can not get a straight answer to I have a fully loaded 98 GS4 rear spoiler, heated seats, hid lights the whole spill but when my lights are on the running lights don't illuminate @ all when I called the lexus hotline they give me contradictory answers 1 rep said they should illuminate another said they are just my high beams I don't know because I'm not the only GS in baltimore but I am one of a select few 400's w/HID but @ night when i see other GS's there running lights are on I am going crazy I have had my baby 4 a year and if she is sick i need to get her some help. So the question is Do my running lights illuminate w/HID on a 98 GS400 or are they strictly high beams?

On a 1998 they do not come on unless you turn on running lights. The GS only started halfway through 2000 (may be 1999) model year having DRLs that stay on all the time.

There are actually two bulbs in there... one that is a little marker light that lights up when the headlights are on (or just the 1-click running lights) and the other is your high beam bulb.

Oh, and welcome to ClubLexus!

okok, here aer the details.

in the high beam housing, you should see two bulbs. the high beam in the center and the small bulb towards the bottom. when you turn on your headlight, the small bulb will light up together with the parking lights (on the sides of teh bumper). and when the hid lights up, they will STILL be on. that should be the case all the time, as long as headlights are on.

now if you are talking about teh day time running light, first of all the 98 GS400 does NOT have DRL, unless you are in canada. so during the day with the headlights off, nothing will be on. DRL is actually high beam running at 50% the power. at night when the headlights are on, the DRL/highbeam will NOT be on at all. just that little bulb

yeah hopefully it's just the bulbs. but if it's REALLY the case that they turn on when the high beam is on, that's very weird...
