Talking Woo Hooo!!!!

Moderators: I understand if you move this post but I just had to let folks know....

I traded in my GS400 for a Silver Mitsu Lancer Evo this weekend!!!! ......... JUST KIDDING!!!!!

Actually, I traded in my BMW M3 for the Evo...

Let me tell you guys, I would sacrifice luxury, interior, and some styling for pure high-performance and cost anyday!!!!

The Evo, already comes with Brembo 4 piston brakes, Enkei 17" lightweight wheels (which I will be replacing with 18's"), Momo Steering wheel, All wheel drive, BIG intercooler, and 271 HP of mad turbo boost!!!!!

Man, I can't wait to begin modding the crap out of this car and there are soooooooo many bolt-on parts and choices out there already for this car.

At this point, as a stock car, the Evo is even with the M3 in performance and handling. Plus, with the way the design direction is going with BMW, I am glad I am not contributing to their lunacy anymore. I have to say, I am grinning from ear to ear!!!! Pictures forthcoming.

Brent

Here is my tentative list...

1) 18" Wheels
2) Lowering springs
3) Turbo Timer

Once engine and all seals have set...
4) Full Exhaust with High-flow Cats
5) Downpipe
6) ECU flash
7) Boost Controller

After Warranty has expired...
8) Turbo upgrade

These are ALL bolt-ons...How easy is that???

What is the general consensus on how long it takes and engine to set in? 1000 miles is what I've always heard, but I'd like to hear what some others think!

Not trying to hijack your thread...congrats on your Evo!!! Maybe this can split into a new thread if it's hijacking...

Congrats Brent, good trade. We'll let this sit in the GS forum for a day or two

Looking forward to your more on which is faster once you fully break in the Evo (M3 vs Evo)

Already on the move regarding that one

Apparently, the previous generation taillights are mostly red with white turn signals but it is a JDM product. Someone is selling them for $300. First mod!

Congrats, the evo is great fun. A couple of my autocross buds have them and I've driven each on the "track". Competes very nicely against another friends modded porsche c4 in auto-x, for a lot less dough.

I'm sure you've already looked into it, but there are some good evo boards out there (evolutionm.net is a fav of mine). Be forwarned, mitsu dealers are rejecting warranty claims for some owners. For instance, one of my friends bought a silver evo and had nasty paint chip problems on front and side within 2 months. Dealer is rejecting warranty claim, calling it normal wear -- my friend is working with regional mitsu warranty people on this now.

Another friend of ours has a new yellow evo. Clutch went out at 2k - warranty replacement was rejected. Damn thing stank like crap since it it was new. Reason given by dealer for denial- aggressive driving killed the clutch. Regional people sided with dealer who wanted over a grand to fix it -- he went with a clutch upgrade instead. I would be very cautious about modding the car if you want no hassle warranty repairs. Check evom.net if you haven't already.

Don't get me wrong, evo's are an a-ticket ride for sure. I almost pulled the trigger on one over the summer. I hightly recommend you consider autocrossing with it. Btw, if you are inclined to really tuning your performance, Vishnus make a sweet piggyback ecu that is extremely configurable, and allows you to load different performance mappings, like one for valets, one for race fuel, etc., from within the car.
