Default Asking price for 2000 GS 300? HELP!

I'm thinking of selling my 2000 GS 300 Platinum. The only thing is it has almost 140k miles... (100 mile a day commute) It's Silver with grey leather, rear spoiler, heated seats, 6 disc, moonroof, fairly standard equipment I think.

I've checked on edmunds and kbb and seems to get a large spread of numbers. I also checked out cars.com and autotrader.com but I didn't see a car with as many miles as mine to compare to.

The car is in great shape, it just racks up the miles driving on the highway everyday for a long commute.

I was hoping you guys might have a better idea of what to advertise the car for since you probably know the market better than I.

Thanks for the help!

The question you asked seems kinda vague to me, and it sounds like you've already done some pricing research (i.e. Edmunds, KBB, Autotrader). What kind(s) of pricing numbers are you looking for your GS? I'm guessing you'll want top dollar out of your car. If you choose to advertise your car later on, you may want to point out that most of the miles are from the highway. That should make the car a more attractive buy than, say, an everyday city-driven vehicle. And of course, the car must be in excellent condition too! Consider advertising locally or around your neighborhood before you post online (at Autotrader, Ebay, etc.)

Good luck.

Well obviously I'd like to get a good price for the car but I'm also trying to be reasonable.
KBB: $16,115
Edmunds: $23,745

That's a pretty significant spread of numbers for private party sale IMO.

Ones I've seen on Autotrader or cars.com are anywhere from 15,000 to 26,000 for miles ranging from 60k to 90k. I've never seen any for sale with my mileage.

I guess I was just turning to the forum here since I figured people would have much more experience with the market for these cars than I.

Thanks again.

Yeah I'm not too surprised of the range of numbers given by Edmunds and KBB. I've witnessed Edmunds pricing as somewhat overvalued since there are usually numerous options to check/uncheck for each car (i.e. leather seats, CD changer, etc.) Other pricing sites like KBB and Nadaguides.com have pretty consistent prices for the autos. To be honest, most consumers go by the KBB value to determine the selling price of their cars, so you may want to wager amongst that area in order to get considerable feedback. Start with a value you'd feel comfortable with, then work your way gradually down if you don't get any takers. Hope this helps

I wish you luck with the sale of your Gs. I have had my 98 gs300 on autotrader for almost 2 months and have gotten 1 call on it. I have 91k on it and I am asking 17000k. I honestly think the tops you are gonna get is about 15k. I think once spring hits people will be buying cars. Its not fun to drive a rear wheel drive car in the snow in my area.

I'm about to sell my very nice 98 GS300 with 35K miles and will ask $20K but will probably have to take $17K-$18K. So you're up against a lot of cars with a lot lower miles selling for less than these books are indicating. Once a car gets over 100K, interest dries up. With 140K miles I think you're looking at sub $15K to move the car. I hope you can do better.

Default thanks for the replies

I was guessing somewhere around 15k. The dealer wanted to give 10k on a trade so I'm guessing a private sale should net a little more than that.

Dave: I may have found a buyer for the S2k, but no one on the 330 yet. I don't really advertise any of them and I really should. I just have them up on those forums right now. I blame my lack on motivation on the winter weather.
