Default VLine CarPlay work on aristos?

i got a 1999 Toyota aristo with touch screen nav and found the Grom vline android. i was wondering if anyone else had added this to there Aristo. I'm totally down to order it just want to make sure it works with the Japanese version of the nav system.
Thank you

Wondering same thing. I don’t wanna hijack the thread, but will explain a lil of my situation.

Just picked up a 2003 aristo v300 vertex edition. A/C is integrated into the head unit.

what makes this even more difficult is I currently live in Japan and it is tough trying to translate what I am saying. Also popular shops like autobacs/yellow-hat will absolutely not modify the car any bit, especially something like this.

to add, I did email Grom, specifically toward the same system you inquired about:

Send us a few pictures of the headunit screen when in AM/FM and Nav mode.
If VLine is compatible, I suggest keeping the headunit as replacing it may cause more issues down the road.

Good timing. I was just looking at this today. I am trying to actively work with GROM on getting something working with this.

As of right now, looks like the only option is:

1) USA / North America MAPS on JDM Aristo navigation
2) Non-nav climate control plus BeatSonic MVA wiring harness plus aftermarket carplay or navigation double din of your choice
3) Future CarPlay/Android auto integration with GROM

after a few emails with Grom, I went with the VLine for 2001-2003. Sounds like it will be plug and play with the stock head unit and I can keep the integrated A/C controls. I don’t mind the Japanese wording within the car and it would be nice to keep things stock. I purchased this item Japan time yesterday and it already shipped, crazy fast support!

talking with a custom shop here in Japan, they also recommended the Best Sonic/non Nav option A/C controls, but they never heard of Grom so this will be something entirely new to them.

I ordered the Vlite for the 2001-2003 (LEX3VT2).
I'll see how this works.
They have 30 day money back guarantee for any reason.
I am excited to see the video for setting the display to English though. (LILEVO)

I think you will run into a problem as the pre 2000 Aristo (Maybe 1997-1998?, not sure if 1999 is included) has an old style navigation with completely different plugs. The 1999 or 2000-2005 Aristo has identical plugs and harness to the 2003-2005 GS300, GS400, GS430 where they split the navi unit from the stereo head unit. See pics below.

1997-1999ish navi and stereo integrated as one

2000+ Aristo separate NAV and Stereo harness, identical to 2003-2005 USDM GS

Vlite. Just because it was cheaper in case someone buys this car and I already have 5 VL2's installed in other cars. This will be my first VLite.

I was messenging with them about the vline and it didn't seem to be worth it you would need to be connected to wifi or your phones hot spot so you would still need your phone so the vlite does android auto and Bluetooth so it seem to be the best option in my opinion. I may be wrong but that's what I got out of my conversations with grom.

True, but I've never used the VL2 with wifi or hotspot other than updating.

I'm not sure if VLite has a microphone or voice navigation with Waze/Google Maps. That's a big feature with the VL2. I don't think you can have any apps, messaging, whatsapp, youtube, etc running with Vlite either.

Here's our VL2 video:
