Hi, I'm having some electrical problems with my '01 GS300.

Sometimes, the car just completely has no signal to the key fob. Sometimes it responds, sometimes it doesn't. Then, the car won't recognize that the driver's door is open. When I put the key in, the electric tilt wheel won't automatically come out, but will work manually. Then when the engine is running, the coolant temp gauge will completely drop to cold like the car is off, and the shift indicator light will turn off. When those two things happen, the air bag light will come on AND the blower motor will just turn off and the exterior temp will just read "--." After all those things happen for a few seconds, everything will spring back on simultaneously, and then do it again a few seconds later. And to top it all off, the low fuel warning will flash, even though the car has well over half a tank of gas. And the only way to stop it is to turn the car off and on again.

This all happens in the same order I just described. It happens completely randomly. Some days the car does everything just fine. And on other days, it will do all this. Everything else functions normally. Radio works great, engine runs smooth, transmission shifts normally. The car has a BRAND new Interstate battery that's not even 2 months old. My alternator is not covered in oil. I have no idea why this is happening, and would appreciate any insight. Thank you.

 

Seems like a bad ground or loose connector, maybe corrosion. The wiring harness to the drivers door might be worth checking, and maybe pulling the cluster to clean/grease pins and reassemble. Check to engine and chassis grounds, Loosen and re-tighten them.
