Change money compartment

The little money compartment above my left knee won’t open. Any tips? Thanks

Apparently jammed with too much money (LOL) or folded paper/cards.
As with a stuck kitchen drawer, insert a knife blade or chopstick and sweep back and forth
to deflect the object out of the way.
