Default Radio replacement

Previous owner took the head unit out cause apparently it wasn’t working well but he never got around to replacing it. Can anyone shed some light on what kind of head unit I can hook up here? Or how to tell myself what sort of adapter and unit I’ll need. Right now all I know is it’s a double DIN sized space haha

You will need one of these adapters to install any aftermarket double DIN stereo system.

Go to crutchfield.com and enter your vehicle. Unless you want to put back in the factory stereo if so start trolling Ebay.

Not cool by the previous owner...I would do some searching and you will find a ton of information on getting something in there.

I am about to do this for my newly acquired gs300. I believe these OEM parts should allow you to fit a double DIN stereo. I don't like the metra kit, because it looks like it's not color matched to the HVAC controls

I’ll take a look at that. I have the Metra kit but I haven’t opened it yet.

I guess my main concern is how to adapt the stock harness into an aftermarket set up. I can splice wires but I’d always rather buy a premade adapter if the price isn’t outrageous.

You will have to bypass the factory amp for the sub. I will get a cheap 50w amp with a lpf so I can keep the factory sub. Don't feel like spending the extra cash to upgrade it yet.

The factory amp is useless to you. You can drive the factory speakers from the head unit. Metra makes a harness for this.

Idc why people wring their hands over cutting the factory harness though. These are not collector cars, and the factory stereos are ****. I'd rather just focus on making clean splices, maybe even labeling them.

Why did you accept ownership like this?

cause I traded an older beat up street bike for a car that has a great engine and transmission + completely redone seats front and back haha probably paid 2-3k for the car in comparative value? And it’s a thousand times easier to maintain than a street bike in the south Florida rainy season lol

Not to hijack this thread, but mine is in the trunk, so I don't need to bypass right?

If it looks like this and you are trying to install an aftermarket, yes.
