Also had this happen while in a parking garage - low on fuel (but not empty) and couldn't start the engine.
Tried to roll-over but just didn't.

Any ideas on what the problem might be? I'm starting to use additives for cleaning now.

Was lucky enough to roll into a gas station. Filled her up and then was able to start about 1/2 hour later.

 

Yup, outta gas. I have gon 80 miles max with the light on E before the car started chugging due to lack of gas.

 

Fuel pump could be dying on you too.

Could be bad gas in your car too, or possibly water in it.

 

Bad gas made my 96 GS die on a on ramp once, the engine just quit, and would not do ANYTHING, had to let it sit, then add gas treatment, A OK after that

 

I'm going to assume bad gas or water and continue with additives.

 

It happened to me also one time, on a highway (kinda scary with a big rig rolling behind me) The ES started to decelerate and shake slowly, and the check engine and TRAC OFF lights came on too. I had to turn off the car and do a cold start, and managed to hit a gas station less than a 1/4 mile away.

Never again will I do that move
