Default Garage door

2001 gs300. I’m having trouble pairing to my new garage opener. I’ve read the car manual and opener manual. Do these just not pair with a new opener

Some garage door openers have a rolling code feature to prevent anyone from capturing the frequency and I dont believe Homelink can pair with this type. You can look up the info on the make and model of your garage door opener and see if it’s compatible with homelink. Most of the newer ones work off your wifi network and will have an app that you can download to your phone or your stereo if you have upgraded it, but otherwise I don’t think the original technology that Hpmelink uses has changed that much so they still work with most new garage door openers.

The garage door company said with my new opener. The car had to be a 2010 or newer to work

I am not as familiar with the newer ones but the one in my car is pretty simple it seems to completely contained in the overhead console and ours has a basic wiring, when i upgraded my rearview mirror , I noticed that many of the newer ones have the homelink built right into the mirror, if it’s something that you would really like to have work, I would think this is something that is pretty easy and affordable to retrofit into your car
I bet it would be pretty easy to tap this plug into your current mirror harness and homelink harness and it off up running right away

Homelink has had a series of versions. The latest is V5. In 2001, it was very primitive, but no opener made after 2013 will work with the version in your car.

If you're a DIY person, I'd take a look at this: https://www.bobsmirrors.com/Gentex-H...LL_p_1835.html

Might be able to make it work with no visible changes, and it supports Homelink 5 so it will work any garage door opener that supports Homelink. I purchased a complete mirror with the buttons (similar to the post above, but new from Bob's) to install in my Supra. The install wasn't exactly fun, but I was able to make it look pretty OEM and use the same connector the mirror had from the factory. There's a post about it on Supraforums. You could do the same, but it would be easier simply because you already have power, switched power, and ground available with your original Homelink installed the car. No matter how you slice it, if you're not an electrical person, you'll need assistance to integrate any new solution.

They also make versions without any wires. Depending on the mirror mount in the car, it might be easy or it might be hard. I had to change the mirror mount in my Supra, and it's not fun. Not hard, but a little scary because you have to heat up the old mount to get it to come off the glass. Anyway, this is what Bob's has, and you can take the part number to shop around if you like. https://www.bobsmirrors.com/NEW-Adve...ed_p_1678.html

I have no relationship with Bob's Mirror's other being than a satisfied customer (TWICE!) for my IS F and my Supra.
