Default Springs?

So I was driving down the 91 the other night, and I came up on a clean 1st gen with a nice drop. I just can't take it anymore... I need to drop my car. Only problem is, I love the ride and don't want to through the geometry of the suspension all out of whack by dropping it. I have had both Intrax and Eibach on other cars I've owned... and after those experiences I really want the Intrax. I'm just curious as to any info/opinions anyone might have to share regarding both set-ups. I've read that some think the Intrax is too stiff a ride and others say it's not that bad. I haven't really seen much on the Eibachs other than they really don't affect the ride, and that the drop isn't even noticeable... (I really don't feel like spending $200 to not change anything.) So, who wants to share?

You should PM GS4Will and see if he could get you Tein or Espelir Springs, probably get the best of both worlds!

I haven't heard anything about Espelir, but to this day I have not heard a single good thing about Tein.

Bud, I dont know who you have been asking but I know a few members that have Tein suspension and they are nothing but happy.

Also, Espelir comes highly recommended

I will be in the market for some springs too after winter. I haven't heard anything about espelir springs and also i think JIC makes some. I think coilovers are a waste unless you are going to be going to a track or something.

I am officially in the market for springs now. There is this brand called vogtland and they are made in Germany. I may just go for those.....

Some people say Eibachs are not good, while H&R's are better. I have no clue...

well in my experience I have put eibachs on 3 different cars, just springs no shocks. It lowers the car just enough and I didn't feel any difference in the ride comfort. Eibachs also made in germany btw.

I'm looking for more of a sportier ride... Eibachs seem to keep the comfort and stock feel to it....

I've got a set of 9 months used eibachs for sale. Great ride quality and handling. $150, prefer not to ship. I'm in SoCal.

I switched to Intrax for the lower height.

I have the TEIN HA's and they are great. A little firm, but my wife and kids don't seem to care too much. When we get rid of the GS and get a GS400, I will definately get TEIN again.

I haven't heard too much about Espelir though.

k, so I went looking and I couldn't find anything on Tein or Espelir for the first gen GS... neither web site has my car listed for applications. However, I did find out that Tanabe makes some springs for the first gen that's supposed to lower the car about 1.8" while still maintaining a comfortable ride. I really haven't heard anything about Tanabe... except that they're Japanese. I didn't know Vogtland made springs for our cars, but I've heard that they are really good.

Hey Cyber, what's the deal with the Eibachs? I may be interested in taking those off your hands. My experience with Eibach is that the ride was nice, but handling wasn't noticeably improved. I also am concerned that the drop may not be noticeable. Still, I don't want to go too low cuz I don't feel like replacing shocks every 3000 miles. What's your experience between the Intrax and Eibach?... and be honest.

I think 2 major things play a part here, where you drive, and your tire/wheel combo. I have 20" wheels and 35 series tires so when i'm in Mass, the ride does bother me at all. The rough stuff is known about, but not unbearable. When I go down to Brooklyn NYC, I gotta take it slow and dodge alot more, the bumps are FELT much more, but my rims dont bend, and I never scrape or crap like that.

Also, when I took my 20s off and put the stock wheels on, the car rode like stock, in EVERY city!!

I think the Intrax would be fine with a fat tire 18 or 19 setup if you live in a city like Brooklyn or Manhattan, otherwise you should be cool with the 20s

Good luck

Leets,

I sent you a PM before I got to your message above. If you don't plan on changing your stock shocks then definitely go for the Eibachs. Anything that lowers more than 1.5" will kill the facotry shocks very fast.

I don't remember what you have set up on your car, but the drop on Eibachs is more noticeable if you are running plus size wheels and tires.

So if you are running 19's or 20's then your ride will look somewhere inbetween LexusAristo (stock springs) and DGOT20's (intrax). You can see their pics in some of the old threads.

Hope this helps.

...And Bryan. Yes that is the shot you took over at the plaza. Thanks.
