Default Lexus Newbie

What a great forum this is. I'm thinking of buying a lex next summer when I move to the US from Norway. I'm buying a GS300 and am planning to spend about 10000 for the car and then mod it. I want a classy look, but I don't know what kit to get. How much would it cost me to have someone install a kit for me?

Thanks,

Here's a photoshopped lex I made: This is what I want mine to look like!

The link did not work, but welcome to the club. Where in the US are you planning on moving to?

Welcome to CL! The price you pay for anything here depends on your committment to quality, where you will live and how well you make relationships. Luckily, just by coming here you are helping yourself out since we are from all over the US (and further... alot further) and there will most likely be somebody who knows somebody wherever you move to.

Anyway, thanks for replying, and the link only works if you manually enter into your browser, sorry.
How much should I pay for some 18's and tires to go with them?

Good tires should be between $150-200 each. Rims are another story. Depends on what you want to spend. You can get cheap rims for $100 each or go the other way and spend $1500 each. Get an idea of what you like and we'll try to find an inexpensive source.

^^ please... maybe he doesn't want to be in the next Master P video.

18s are fine if you do everything right. 18s are more performance oriented and wheel gap has more to do with suspension and tire sizing than anything else. If you want to be a little different, go 19s. Much more expensive though because they are considered an "off" size.

Seems like 18's are too small hehe - remember that I'm going to be driving in ND where there's what we in Norway call snow Initially I want to get rims, tyres, and lowered springs for around 2500 total. Would that be possible? I'd like Pirelli P-Zeros. After that I want to add a bodykit. I looked at an erebuni one, but are they crap? I saw a whole bodykit at their site for less than 900... Rico's bodykit looks cool but at 2000 or so it's too much to begin with.

Kinda confused as to the relationship between bigger wheels and snow. With the snow you want smaller wheels with more rubber. This also helps with those hidden snow-covered curbs that like to scuff rims. You're better off having two sets of rims, your Spring, Summer, Fall 20s (since it seems that the way you want to go) and your stock wheels with good all-season radials or even snow tires for winter. With the rear wheel drive, trust me, you'll want good tires through the winter.

The 20" P-Zero Rossi will set you back about $300 a pop not including mounting and balancing. So there goes half your budget right there. This leaves about another $300 per for your rims. In that range there should be plenty of options unless you want high end stuff like Enkei and HRE.

Erebuni make knock off body kits. There stuff is cheaper because the fiberglass is made with a chopper gun instead of being hand laid. The chopper gun glass cracks easier and when it does it tends to break apart. Also, since they are copies, they don't fit as well as the originals. Every bodykit has some work to do to get it just right, but the cheaper ones seem to take alot of fabrication and modification to fit right. My bodykit installed was pretty expensive, but in the end its worth it.

BTW, when you move here email me, I have a brand new set of Falken Azenis FK451s in 255/35 ZR20 I'm going to get rid of. I never did get 20s and have decided to keep my 19s.
