Default i hate pebbles...

man...

since the weather's been getting better here in Chicago, I've noticed a few chips on the front bumper and hood of the GS. What a grind.... back me up on this one guys: someone looking at our cars may think they look great... but we as the owners see all those little imperfections. p*sses me off, whenever I go to my car, I look straight at the chip(s). I realize worse things can happen (read: alexamparo<~~ sorry 'bout what happened bro....) Alrighty then, just venting...

Even moreso:

..... I hate the people who, even though our cars do look great take the time to pinpoint small imperfections like a rock chip, one door ding, or a one inch scratch. These people make me SICK, going over our cars with a fine tooth comb as though to say that since we have a "LEXUS" it has to be perfect But if you glance over at their car, you will need a palm pilot to take note of all the stuff wrong with it.

Point is if your car is 6-10 years old and you drive it everyday there will be issues here and there, regardless of how careful and attentive you are. Even the best of us on this board, has a "to do list" be it trunk or hood shocks, window trim, blown instrument or console lights or whatever. Sh** Happens!

i feel both of your points! because with a drop, and alot of highway driving, my airdamn and leading edge of hood have taken a beating! the thing about it is, I take it as a compliment, when someone notices the 1 or 2 dents I have. I tell them "my car is SO clean that your eye just falls on the 1 or 2 imperfections because there is nothing else to look at" Conversely, your car is so covered with mess, that no ones takes time to notice anything!!

I am getting my bumper and the leading edge of the hood resprayed though!

Default Chips

Where do you live in Chicago? Don't remember seeing you on this board. I got my front bumper sprayed at the begining of the year but now I am noticing my hood getting worse and worse, I hit a chip with the powerwasher one day and it spread the chip, it is killing me everyday cause the car is so damn clean everywhere else, I am gonna have to have the hood resprayed soon, or its gonna make me go buy a 430 or somethin. I bought a very nice full bra for my car that fits perfectly to avoid those chips and after I took a road trip to florida I took it off like a dummy, and my highway driving doesn't help, but I think I should put the damn thing on.

whoa 007, did i strike a nerve or something? i don't go over my car w/ a fine tooth comb, god knows my car is far from being mint... but it's like having a dirty spot on a white carpet, you notice it...

CHMPNGS.. i'm on the northside bro. i don't get a chance to hop on CL as much as i'd like to.

I'd like to get the bumper and hood resprayed but i think i'll wait until i get transferred closer to the crib, that way i won't have to worry about such a long commute. I was thinking about getting a bra myself but am a bit apprehensive... anybody got pics of a 1st gen w/ a bra???

Yeah... sorry about that.....LOL i get on my soap box every now and then...Man just today my friend came by the house in his convertible BMW... i was washing the car. He was like "where did you get that scratch?" Small scratch mind you. His car has a broken fog light, vinyl seat covers over the torn seats... and more dents and dings than i can count. Plus it was dirty. All stock not one mod. But i guess you can call it a compliment, that maybe our cars are so clean that small things go noticed... But i look more at it like HATERS trying to find someway to put you on their level.

I have a couple of chips on my front bumper too... and i just had my car painted last year. I will have the front resprayed this summer along with that scratch.

That is a good point, but usually I just look at who its coming from. Its funny, but now my GF and her 9 yr daughter, can notice things on my car, since we have been together for 5yrs. She will say things like "hey where did that scratch come from"? Or if she is sitting in the car while I wash it, she will point to spots on the windsheild that I missed! BOTH OF THEM DO IT! Its really funny, and I know that they are not hating.

But when some punk in a crapbox GS with dull paint and bad bodywork says something like, "Yo son, you should get that .5" scratch on you fender fixed", I say "Yeah your right, I better fix it, before my car starts looking like YOURs!!!!" LOL, that usually gets rid of them quick!

Here is a pic, from my drive to Florida, I have a front pic on my computer here at work but it is too large and I can't put any programs on here to shrink it.

LOL... I definately want to hit up the next Chicago meet, but it's all a matter of timing. This new gig is a huge time consumer for me. I'm gonna hit up the chicago forum and see when the next one is.
