Unhappy Nagging noise

I bought a 94 GS 300 and from the firs day I can hear a nagging noise coming from the front panel that sounds like an electrical motor continously engaged. While I listen to the stereo it is masked by the sound, but soon as I turn the audio off, there it is.

Any ideas? The audio system is a Nakamichi and the former owner told me that it had been installed about a year or two ago as a replacement.

On the same subject, I replaced the subwoofer, but I find the bass volume very weak. The bass frequency are certainly there, but I thought it would have a better volume output. I there a separate amplifier for the bass frequency in the Nakamichi system or is it normal?

Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

The amplifier for your Nakamichi system is in the trunk to the right underneath your CD Changer. You will need to take off the right rear quarter carpeted enclosure to get to it. FYI. However you cannot adjust this amp. It is a 5-Channel Amp powering all interior speakers and sub but no adjustment.

The Nakamichi upgrade includes not only the system but the speakers as well. Maybe the guy didnt replace the Pioneer sub with the Nakamichi one the 11" Nak sub is over $500. The Nak sub sounds good and bass is good. It is "Free Air" so it uses your trunk as a box. "Free Air" subs have a bass that is sometimes variable. or a little flat a times compared to a bandpass or sealed enclosure box. If you remove the carpeting in the center of your trunk you can see your sub.. gas tank too. Underneath it, it doesnt say Nakamichi on it but mine has the nbrs

IF this is your problem i have a Nak sub i am not using and will sell at a greatly discounted rate.

Not sure about the noise under the dash though.

Thanks for the info. I will check the amp this weekend.

I still can't figure out this noise. All I know is that it seems to be generated from someplace in the front panel. I am afraid of taking things apart in the front panel and not be able to put it all back right.
