Do you need a new key. Just take your printout from the DMV to the dealer and show them the vin number. it should be like 80 bucks or something for a key with remote and i think 40 for the regular key without it. i forgot

are you sure it's only 80 for the remote key? i'll have to give them a call, i thought it was more 200 for those at the dealer. i'd like the part number because then i can purchase a used one, swap the inserts and then reprogram it. or can't i?

Did you lose your key or what?? did it break??

Well. i don't think there is a way to program the first gen key. The only way to get one is from the dealer. they have to get one specially made.

Is just the inside remote broken??

so your saying you just got a black key without a remote.

well first of all i'd be REALLY careful that the previous owner doesnt come back and start stealing **** from your car and taking your car.

well go to the deal and do what i said. i'm pretty sure its 80.

Default Key.

Jmai, the price of the key depends on where you live.

In CT for example, the master key is around $300, I'm
pretty sure somewhere in IL it's much cheaper. (Yeah,
you know who you are)

sbgs300, go to the dealer with your registration, and they'll
make one for you either the same day or the next one.

Regards.

I have a 96 and got quoted a ridicules price from the Ct Lexus dealer for the remote key. They told me it's even more for the 93 - 94 key's. Why? I cant remember, but I finally had my brother in law cut me a few spares for the cost of the blanks...about 3 bucks.

Damn. I paid $25 with no discount for a regular spare key at my local dealership, Rohrich Lexus in Pittsburgh. They quoted me around $230 for a remote.
