Question Header...

So I've searched through the header topics, but want to see if anyone knows which would be easier to match to the 1st Gen gs300 exhaust lay out. The header for the 00 IS300, or the header for a 95 SC300?

95 SC would be sufficient. Both 1SC and 1GS engines are non VVTI

Yea. I got some sc300 headers to install by this weekend. Everything looks to be in the same locations. Gonna do a test fit and install hopefully Saturday.

Awesome. Let me know how it goes, and what brand header you used.

They're done. Ill get pics tomorrow. But it was a pita, the headers were about two inches shorter than the stock manifold where they connect to the b pipe and the clearance is vey tight (had to remove the distributor cap to get it in place). The headers also are very close to the a/c lines. Soo in all there was a lot of frabication, had a shop remove the flange bolts that were siezed and also had a muffler shop add an inch of extension on the b pipe for it to reach the headers. Very tough.LOL but it sounds nice, quieter than stock was (guess I had leak).

I had to use universal o2's because the exhaust didn't have the bracket bolts for the OEM o2's. Had to splice and solder the wires.

Do you think that they made any difference horsepower wise? I would love to know if they are worth the trouble to put them on.

Originally I was just going to bang out the cats to lose the restriction, but if it's possible to do I failed. So the header is the only option now. Less restriction is always good. Just as long as it's not loud as hell.

Thats a tough question to answer because I got the headers because my engine light was saying it was running rich and it pulled sluggish alotta times, ran rocky at idle and bucked at 4k rpm outta nowhere a lot. So I figured it was a bad cat conv. Now with the headers it pulls stronger, especially on the highway, but after a day or so it started doing the same things it did earlier with rocky idle, sluggish at low speeds sometimes, bucking at 4k rpm and the engine came back on. So in short it does pull stronger, just can't give you a solid answer about how much because of the prior issues (thinking its the maf going bad).

I know what you mean. It looks like it'd be a pita to have the cats gutted on these, and its actually very quiet with the headers and stock exhaust (quieter than my worn stock exhaust was). I haven't forgotten pics, just been busy at work a lot. And these headers were from eBay for a good deal, just had some clearance issues with the a/c line getting close to touching because the pipes are so huge. Ill get some pics as soon as I get a chance, hopefully in a day or so.
