Air condition intermittently working
Hi Guys,
For some reason, my AC has been working intermittently. It works 90% of the time, but sometime it just doesn't work. It just blows air, not cold at all. But when it works, it works great!
Any ideas on what the cause of this may be? Also, I notice my car dripping a lot more water when I have my AC on than usual. Like when I park, it will leave a puddle.

I had a prob similiar when I turned on my a/c shortly the light started 2 flash! Turns out it my water pump was busted and it was squirting stuff on my serpentine belt causing it 2 slip so it didn't spin fast enough for the a/c to work & a puddle under my car!

just did my AC right before summer
Go to your autostore and buy some freon with dye detections. Input the freon your self...extremely easy. you might have leak.
i found my leak at the AC compressor. I Replaced my dryer and AC compressor. Now its cold cold cold
give it a try

If your A/C is low on refrigerant, the A/C light will flash. If it just blows just air and not cold at all, are you on AUTO mod? What temp settting are you on? As for dripping a lot of water, that is just normal condensation.

90% of the time working when the car is running or at a stop or when does it happens intermittently?

When it works, it works PERFECT. When it does not work, it does not work regardless if it is set manually or on auto.
An example of it not working last week, I left my house at 10am, outside weather was probably in the mid to upper 70's. I turn on the AC it does not blow cold air at all, regardless if i set the temp anywhere between 65-75. It just blows air. I arrive at my destination about 45 minutes away, I go inside for 1 hour I come back outside and leave. I turn on the AC again and it works perfect again, cold cold air.
No flashing AC light, it is a solid green.

check the little servo motor that contorls the blend door. when its not working look up under the dash (pass. side i think) and while looking up under the dash turn the "temp" **** and if its working right you should see a little servo motor arm move when you turn the temp ****.
and if thats not it the only other thing i could think of, according to how your talking, is that maybe theres some trash in the expansion valve? its kinda weird that it works 95% of the time for it to be trash in the expansion valve tho.
oh and when its not working but the A/C light is solid green let it run, dont touch any of the settings and look under the car and see if there water coming out the drain tube. if there is then your A/C system is fine. it would most likely be one of the doors in the HVAC unit.

i had that problem before....it didnt get cold after a while. IMO you should get new freon. suck out all the old, in with the new. where are you located in cali? i know a good place in my area(SGV) who does this for cheap. $45 for freon(GS300)

I don't mean to sound unappreciative of the information you provided, but I don't see how replacing the freon would fix the problem if it works very well and cold 95% of the time.
Please post up the information for that place that you know of for others and myself if it comes down to it, i'm located in Orange County.
Cheers,

I am probably a broken record on the subject by this point, but I suggest talking to Son at Dynamic about the issue. It doesn't seem like you need to recharge the system if it works 95% of the time. My understanding is CA law allows a shop to hold your car hostage if they are performing AC service and find a leak in the system.
