Default 1995 GS300 EGR code

I just checked the codes in my 95 GS300 and got a code 71(EGR Malfunction). Does this mean my EGR valve is bad or is there more testing that I need to do to determine what exactly is wrong? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks in advance

i actually just finished with that same issue today and i replaced the egr and the modulator, the egr is impossible to clean out even if you soak the stupid thing. as for the modulator i dunno what goes on with that really but mine was doing about 1lb whereas my new one is 12-15lbs

boxcars link is great. generally though the 2jz-ge is bad about clogging up the egr outlet tube that runs inside the intake plenum. Also the vacuum modulators diaphragms go out when they start getting as old as the 1rst gens are...but these are just the 2 most likely causes. wouldn't hurt to clean the outlet passage anyway... use the link to be sure in your decision
