i was wondering if anyone knows why there is metal at the end of the trunk (literally right under the factory sub). and also i wanted to know if there are an heavy unnecessary parts that can be taken out for a lighter ride. i want to lose like 500 pounds from my car..

500 is alot of weight. Search for threads of Epiks gutted drift car to give you ideas. Do-able. Just dont expect to have any interior other than a drivers seat. Or custom fiberglass or carbon parts. In my car the only metal below the factory sub, is the gas tank.

you can try to remove that piece of metal under the factory sub if you want. you never know what will happen, but i'm sure i know the results.

if your after a light car, go for a 240sx or old corrola. don't get a lexus.

the only thing you can remove that would actually help, would be the passenger and drivers seat, and well you kinda need a seat to drive in.

you can remove the stereo and A/C but what would be the point of a lexus.

you can remove the rear seats, but they weight maybe 40 pounds.

the spare tire, radio and A/C would be the best way to loose weight and still keep it functionable

i thought about this too before. i was going to take out the backseat but it really looks ugly, and i think its useless. only thing i took out was the spare tire.

they have carbon fiber hoods, that might help. maybe make some other CF parts or idk.

There's basically nothing on this car that is not heavy. Just add boost and the weight may not bother you as much.

thank you for all the replies. and since i need my spare, and seats, and gas tank (lol) i'll just try to look for some parts for increased acceleration.

whats the cheapest performance part that makes a difference in accel

twin/single turbo...swap in a 2jzgte or make yours na-t, but theres really nothing worth doing to the non turbo motor. You could get and intake and exhaust and have headers custom fitted but you're not goin to make much of a difference. With the gs unless you dont mind being heavy and slow, you need boost...now you'll be decently fast but still heavy

Switch the seats with bucket seats, the whole seat is pretty heavy , including the electronics involved,Remove center hand rest, Buy lightweight engine parts (like pulleys), Lighter rims. IMO the only one worth doing is getting rid of the stock seats, Otherwise youll be spending alot of money losing weight when you could save that up for a turbo, Get a torque converter if you feel your heavy car is weighing you down on take off.

i think even if you lose the weight, lol its not going to effect the acceleration they way you it to. performance mods and get the torque!

If he could actually find 500lbs to shave off, that would drastically alter the power to weight ratio.
Your right though, it certainly wouldnt feel as good as it would with lots of boost and full leather interior with a stereo
