is $1750 to much for a complete trans rebuild, and 18 month warrenty?

Thats probably about right for a rebuilt at a shop. Some places local to me do it with labor for that price.
You could just pick up a used one from a member that swapped to GTE. Or shoot for that price you could get the swap and DIY.
