Default !993 GS300 Ignition/starter/battery problem

My 93 is starting to act up, and nickel and dime me. I want to give it yet one more chance. Today, I turned the key and it would't start, I tried the jumpers, but no luck.

Any suggestions? How do you "knock" the starter and where is it located?

Thanks

The starter is in a place where you need arms and hands of a 10yr old. lol if you look straight down from the itake manifold u could maybe see it. Easier access from underneath the car. If you start is bad and need to replace it... you'll need to have a loong extentension. Also a swivel socket is quite handy. 2 bolts holding it in...1 nut/bolt for the terminal and a plug u have to unclip. It comes out one way and goes in one way. Not much room to work but it really depends how good you are with one hand

Using a single jumper cable, connect from the battery negative post to a bare metal point on the engine. Check for the motor to run.

This will determine if the ground connections to the engine are questionable, loose or corroded.

Personally, thirteen years is a pretty good life for a starter motor. More likely than not, the starter assembly is in need of replacement ...

Thanks for your help. It really does seem to be moisture related. The last few days it started right up, but its a little scary driving a car that might not start when needed
