Default Check Eng. Light

Well guys i got the CHECK ENG LIGHT this weekend. On my way home from work on Friday; just as i pulled up in the yard i had a Heater hose go on me, and my baby i was pouring out coolant like someone had been shot. I went and picked up another one and replaced it. Then Sat. afternoon i got the CHECK ENG light. I have looked back and seen a thread on Check Eng light, Seen some people were saying the 02 sensor might be bad, or something called a EGR VALVE. Anyone else out there run acroos this problem. Any info would be helpful. CAUSE I AM NOT GOING TO THE DEALER

Sorry to hear of that. =(

Last time my check engine light went on was when my air filter was old and clogged. Perhaps it could be that..

No problem bro. That happened when I took off my aftermarket k&n hi flo filter and put the stock airbox in with the aftermarket intake pipe. I guess there wasn't enough air flow going into the car as a result of the dirty stock air filter and aftermarket pipe.

All I have now is the stock piping and k&n. Everything works fine and there is not too much of a loss of low end power when compared to having the k&n filter along with the aftermarket pipe.

BLKCISCO, I know that taking the car to the dealer is a pain in the butt financially and timewise.

But Check Eng. Light could be anything and almost everything in the engine bay. It happenned to
me personally three times. First time it was the EGR valve, second the air filter and then the O2 sensor.
So you can either spend some time and quite a sum of money and replace all three of those yourself,
or you could go to the dealership and have them tell what it is and then you can change whatever needs
to be changed, instead of guessing.

It's a Lexus and it needs your time and attention as well as your money. It's just like a demanding girl.
But you treat your Lex right and it will keep you pimping on and on for years to come. Good luck, bud.

Well guys my light is out, and my baby is back to her sweet self again. After having the car hooked up to the diagnostic mech. it came up with the code 71 AKA EGR VALVE. After we seen that the guy that was helping me asked if i had did any work on the car befor the light came on. I had changed out a heater hose. Well come to find out that while reaching down behind the eng. to the lower end of that hose i had pulled off a vacum hose to wich led into the EGR VALVE ASSY. Hooked it back up and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE no more light. Ran the diagnostic test again and no codes came up. CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR INPUT. THE THINGS I READ ON THIS POST AND THE ORIGNAL POST A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO TOOK ME RIGHT TO THE TWO THINGS IT COULD HAVE BEEN. IT'S REAL NICE TO HAVE A PROBLEM, COME IN HERE AND READ UP ON IT AND KNOW WHATS GOING ON WHEN YOU WORK ON YOUR CAR.I TOLD THE GUY THAT I GOT MY INFO FROM OUR SITE AND HE WAS IMPRESSED. TO ALL THE CLUB LEXUS MEMEBERS
