I'm not a fan of windows 8 since i dont use a windows phone or an Xbox. the whole live tiles thing is pointless with out a touch screen monitor or track pad. IMO..
I was running a 2 month old SONY PC with Windows 7 installed from the factory. After I purchased and downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade, NONE of my USB ports worked. I was on the phone with Andrew Willis from Microsoft Windows Tech Support for over 2 hours trying to fix the problem. At last, I was told by Dave Koski, the Windows Tech Support Manager, that I would need to contact SONY because it is a hardwear issue?!?! He said the only other work around, would be to do a complete system restore and reinstall Windows 7, which would completely wipe all of the personal information on my PC. SONY told me it's not their problem, it's a Microsoft issue. Fortunately, I had all of my files backed up on an external hard drive. 4 hours later, I'm finally able to use my USB ports, but only after re-installing Windows 7.
I'm sure this is not the issue with all PC's, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Make sure you have all of your system files backed up on an external hard drive before upgrading to Windows 8.
