Default Head flow Results!

Well, as most of us know especially here in South Florida where performance/power is a serious topic, there's always been an argument about which head flows better. 1JZGTE, 2JZGE, or 2JZGTE.

I've heard it all from people saying that the 1J flows the best because it's made/designed by Yamaha so it revs like a bike.

I've heard that the 2JZGE head flows the best because it's a NA head and designed to maximize performance without force induction.

I've heard that the 2JZGTE flows the best because most naturally, it's a turbo designed engine so of course the head flows the best.

Well, I've discovered an interesting graph to put all this to rest!
(Compliments of Klaus)

As you can clearly see the 2JZGTE flows better on the Intake side followed by the 2JZGE then the 1JZGTE so I don't understand why people choose to do a 1.5JZ with the 1J head and 2J bottom if it flows the worst of the three??

Secondly, on the exhaust side the 2JZGTE head comes on first but the 2JZGE catches up to it and out flows the 2JZGTE...

So since I have a 2JZGE head, that's more air flow to spool up my turbo!!

Just thought you guys would be interested in this information!

Are these from the graphs on SupraForums?

The 1.5j thing came around because it raises the compression and thus makes more horsepower, not because it flows more. I'll keep my 2JZGTE head thanks.....

1j head has more velocity as oppose to both 2j heads that flow more Volume or CFM's for this matter.
Either way the 1j has its limitation but by design its meant to have a very strong powerband, In other words, It makes the power early and then flatlines it. Compared to the 2j head, the characteristics are different. That is why when ported it makes very linear power, However its starts to look more like a 2j powerband.

My .02 based on what I heard, read and seen with own 2 eyes.

Yamaha has a hand in both the 2jz and 1jz as well as the 3sgte.

I've heard the same about the GE head flowing better on the exhaust. Good to see results. Need to get some numbers once I finish porting my spare head
