Looking for wheel shop
I'm tired of G-Roads.
For 16 years, I was a loyal customer off Goodroads. They knew how to take care of their customers and always had the best machinery....so that good fitment and ride smoothness was achieved. If you weren't happy, they took care of you. They built a huge following with this good customer service making the business valuable. There was always one flaw....the lead sales guy named Dave. Many people have accused him of being prejudiced and I always defended him. There were times I saw him treat blacks and hispanics differently but I overlooked it. I even heard him say he hated dealing with them........when a young black guy was approaching from the parking lot. I always felt I was being treated well although I am black....I began to think it was just certain blacks he didn't like.
Now the store is under new ownership. The original owners kept the warehouse but sold the retail part. The prices are higher and the customer service has gotten worse. Especially for certain people. Dave is still there. Everyone else chages me 100 to mount and balance a setup. Dave charges me 140 dollars everytime. They don't offer the same level of customer service. In fact, one staff person admitted today, we aren't nice to people anymore. Depends on who you are. I've seen white guys abuse their wheels and come in complaining and get taken care of when they shouldn't. One guy in a Ferrari 460, admitted to me in private that he was doing burnouts and the tires seperated. But he played the act with them and they hooked him up. There is another guy, always pops up with problems trying run 22's, they fix him up although he clearly is abusing the wheels.
Today, they dogged me out. It's a long story but trust me, I felt like I was treated very badly and over charged. They're mad because I'd started to order wheels elsewhere because they have jacked up their prices to pay off what it cost to purchase the business. I understand that but don't hate on me because I have experience and know how to shop. I happily paid their 140 mount charge, but don't go beyound that. Don't accuse me of not paying the last time I was there. Don't rig crap that didn't fit, I ask to take it off and you charge me for that twice. They charged me to rig it then charged me to take it off. I didn't ask them to try rigging crap. Those fools wanted to shave my calipers to make wheels fit and that's where I drew the line.
So I'm looking for another shop to call home. Anyone know of another shop that uses Hunter balancing machines?

G-Roads, FKA Goodroads is on Commercial Blvd near I-95 in Ft Laud.
BTW, in case someone wonders why I don't use my wife's friend shop, he doesn't have Hunter machines and I don't like the location.

Wow Reggie, in one of our conversations I really wish you would have mentioned this situation to me! In my humble opinion all money is green so if you are a paying customer you should be treated fairly and respectfully. I am utterly AMAZED at the way many shops treat their customers with disrespect!
The aversion to melanin part is just icing on the cake! Its the year 2007 and people of ALL races have accumulated wealth so how ignorant can you possibly be to make the statement "I hate dealing with xxx group of people"? Not to mention within earshot of a person of different origin. Just plan stupid, ignorant and small minded.
Reggie you have to remember that some people have a hard time processing ANY sort of accomplishment or success that another person experiences. For some reason they feel the need to then degrade or disrespect. I say this because I know you have been going to this shop for along time, and the new 40-50k car every 10minutes thing doesn't sit well with some people, especially when its a person of a richer hue, if you get my drift. This Dave guy sounds like one of those people.
Sorry that you have had to endure this treatment, and to add insult to injury you have referred people there over the years.

The money they've made in referrals alone should be enough to have my name on the wall of that place. Instead, they talk crap because I order elswhere and go there for install. I still spent money there and I want good customer service. That's okay, I'll spend it somewhere else.
Last time I was there, they didn't have Hunter machines. Do they have them now? wit Hunter balancers, the technician doesn't have to be the best in the world. The machine gets it right. A skille tech can compensate but lots of these little shops have people working there who are less than concientious.
They are mounting and balancing machines....very expensive and highly calibrated to offer the most accurate readings needed to balance high performance wheels. Less quality machines rely on some skill by the technician. Hunter machines pretty much choose the spot to place the weights and the tech just sticks them on.
