Quote: i'm sure that can be fixed with an over the air software update
I understand your comment was satire, but, in all seriousness, if a pad was missing, the rotor is also likely to have been damaged from metal-to-metal scoring on one side from contact wth the pad-mount hardware. The rotor itself may (?) also be warped from uneven heat and brake-pressure on one side of it. My guess is that Tesla is going to have to either resurface or replace several brake-parts, not just a pad.

Even when GM, Chrysler, Yugo, and Hyundai were building junk in the 1980s, I can't remember seeing (or hearing about) something like that.......missing brake pads.

Car still drove fine. Also this could very well be a stunt anything and anything Tesla automatically gets clicks and views look at the Plaid thread. Sure most of it is people whining about how they don't like the car but either way interest in intense.

(auto missing brake pad function)
lol. pretty obvious that they are just cranking these cars out as fast as they can in order to make Wall St happy with little regard to quality control.

Musk has greatness, but he also has great flaws.

Quote: I think the Tesla videos…and Tesla threads are getting out of control.

how do we know that 10 second video isn’t made up? Seems like a nice You Tube revenue generator. Seems like everyone wants to just post on you tube nowadays as it generates eyeballs.

Man blowing up Tesla ✅
Man doing a hands free drive from the back seat✅
now a missing brake pad. 🥕

Tesla has a good product and and strong branding ✅
We should just have a Master Tesla thread.
Lately it feels like EV/Tesla Chat rather than Car Chat forum.

Also every car manufacturer has defective cars or ones that are delivered with something missing/broken.

Tesla is doubling sales YOY, I’m actually surprised they don’t have more issues. Its almost impossible to maintain consistent QC with that type of growth for a such a new company. Plus they are building new manufacturing facilities.

this has been suggested but then (rhetorical, not up for debate as we're not doing it) should we then also just have a toyota thread, and a lexus thread, and a ford thread, etc.?

tesla has clearly been the talk of the automotive industry everywhere, not just on clublexus.

Consumer Reports (CR) just came out with their survey ranking all the car manufacturers in terms of reliability. Lexus at the top, where it is most years. Tesla was second from the bottom, IIRC, # 36 out of 37. The missing brake pad would fit in with the picture CR paints.

FYI, the owner of the Tesla in question lives in my neighborhood and we talked about the issue a couple weeks ago. This Thursday, Tesla will have had the vehicle for 4 weeks as it sits in their service lot. They did provide a blue Tesla 3 as a loaner.

It's a replacement caliper, pads, and rotor. How does that take more than a day?

when you only have 3 pads to put on each new car, it's hard to find a spare to send out to fix this one.

It can't possibly be this difficult, at this point figure out who makes the caliper and order a pad for another car that also uses that caliper. It's not like Tesla makes the actual components, it's likely TRW or someone similar.

Multiple weeks for something like this is insane.

I smell B.S on the claim. Was done for You Tube clicks. I don’t think it really happened

Unfortunately it really happened as I know the person. As of yesterday still waiting on a fix, and yes, she even asked about pulling the part from another vehicle but apparently the people at the Tesla shop here are not capable of finding a part/fixing a vehicle in a timely matter.

Any solid data to back up this assertion?
