Designers explain why they did what they did

It will sell well. Pricing is competitive for a next Gen product.

This harkens back to 70s BMWs in the front. I don’t like those style BMWs but at least it makes sense.

Ok we shall see who is right in 2027 / 2028 since this thing will not be in US until mid-2026 at the earliest. By that time Model Y will have even more improvements and Rivian R2 will be out.

Btw - the gas X3 starts at $50k so about 20% cheaper which is significant.

RWD version is stated to start at 50k after the iX3 50 is on the market, probably with a smaller battery.

Model Y wont have another refresh for a while. I doubt it will have any significant improvements in charging speeds in 2026 - already being surpassed by many rivals in that regard at launch. Fast charging is more of a selling point now - rather than 0-60.

especially with german brands... oh sir, you wanted seats in that car, and paint and wheels... ok well, then it will be...

this is the same company that had a subscription for apple carplay, right?

and heated seats were extra on an already expensive car.

Its still a huge seller and Model Y performance is coming as well.
I think Tesla will be ok.

BMW has to ramp up production and then deal with all issues that come with brand new model plus losing huge $$$$$ on each one the sell/lease.

To put your mind at rest, he is also a big Tesla fan. Well the cars at least.

How many Tesla killers need to fail before that might not be a thing?

Don't worry BMW will kill off the Model Y, rest easy.

Don’t see the appeal of the Model Y performance, range is no better and normal AWD model Y is already tested to do 0-60 in 3.9s.

With the price of the performance, you could buy a iX3 which likely to have better driving dynamics and road feel as prototype testers have been saying.
