The real reason is not the plugin cars themselves, but driver behavior.

Many people don't or can't take advantage of the EV capabilities of the plug ins and just use HV mode, which obviously means more ICE usage.

So if you plugin the car more, you pollute less. Simple. I use EV all the time for short distance travel, and only switch to HV when I go long distance, which is how it should be used to maximum effect. No range anxiety or stupid planning of routes, but much much less pollution than pure ICE since I drive less than 5 miles usually on average a day so 95% or more of the time I'm on EV mode (range of RX450h+ for me is around 40 miles on EV).

Ah, I knew you were going to say this. I guess the EU's WLTP is biased, which is the source for this article. It's funny how "biases" work isn't it?

Doesn't matter one way or another to me

Ah, so this one is biased, but the one you posted wasn't. Got it.

Correct, this is why pure EVs are the future not hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

The EU is not wrong with the data. The problem is that BEV site conveniently forgot to mention the plugin problem was a driver problem. Read the technology review article i posted, which explains this.

BEVs or some other technology yes, though for now BEVs are not feasible for most people. Which is why I have a PHEV instead. Makes my life a hell of a lot less problematic.

I mean, just say that, nobody's going to argue with you on that point. It's a personal choice to drive a BEV or PHEV. Instead you seem to spend a lot energy justifying your choice. No need brother

Really? I'm not the one who started this thread bashing PHEVs.

It's an informational thread, not a bashing thread. Should I have not posted it, is that what you're saying? If it offends you, I'll gladly ask the mods to remove it

When people post declining EV sale articles or articles on Tesla stock dropping, I don't take that as bashing EV's. If it's informational, nobody should be offended

Toyota actively lobbies against clean transport that is the truth this is simply another version of that.

I've had an EV for 5 years now. I don't have range anxiety and I don't stupidly plan routes ever

I get in the car, input a destination and I'm driving off.

Not sure why you keep talking about all these "issues" when you don't even have an EV...

I've owned four EV's since 2020 and I've never experienced any of those issues either. It seems people who have never owned one, or took a trip in one experience issues we don't 🤣. Range anxiety experienced by non EV owners. Amazing

Do you need to have been struck by lightning to understand why it's dangerous?

Must you have lived in the 18th century to discuss the implications of the Industrial Revolution?

Should you have climbed Mount Everest to talk about the challenges of mountain climbing?

No, but I think if one actually climbed mount Everest, you would be in a better position to tell others climbers what to expect. Just a thought

You need to be struck by lightning to know what it feels like. You had to live in the 18th century to fully appreciate how industry took over the world. You have to actually climb Everest to understand the challenge.
