My 2018 Ody is just about 6 seconds 0-60 with the 10 speed. Still gets pretty decent mileage too!

I don't think people today realize how fast that is

That's approx a stock Mustang GT back in the day. Lol

The EV van will be a hit, hoping.

They will probably sell everyone they make.

It has nostalgia and performance too.

My brother in law says is Odyssey has cylinder deactivation at highway speeds. Now it's reached over 200k and has all kinds of issues. It has some issue where it will no longer properly charge the battery, and it's not the alternator, so he keeps it on a trickle charger. Doesn't want to spend the money trying to figure out the problem, he just test drove an EV9 and that will most likely be the replacement for his Minvan

What year is his? Total mileage we're putting on it dropped significantly once we got the 3s. It's sitting at 42K almost 6 years in now. When it dies we'll see what replaces it. With the R1S we have our big car needs covered and with the added Tesla supercharger access will make it more viable for the times we do opt to drive instead of fly. Maybe I can talk my wife into a Porsche

If I didn't get the R1S, we would've gotten a Buzz. Whether it would've replaced the van or my 3P was up in the air but I would happily daily the Buzz if we owned one

I believe either a 2010 or 2011. He bought it right before they moved building them in the US...I remember he rushed to replace is 1998 Ody because he was afraid once they began building them here quality would go to hell. Took many, many trips in it

quite seriously considering the iD.Buzz (not the GTX) as our grandparent mobile. All the indications are VW has done a great job with this. Saw a couple of the Euro market models when we over in Europe earlier this month and I think it looks phenomenal.

this looks GREAT. but i don't like the 200kw max charging or the interior, or what i've read about the control software (weak slow).

the seats and mechanisms look HUGE and might be great to remove all but front 2 and a third and make it a camper inside. you know it's going to be done

Reportedly the software is updated from the version installed in the ID.4 etc. As for charge speed, the charge curve is probably as if not more important than the peak rate. I've not seen any charge curve info yet so will reserve judgment (plus peak charge rate is irrelevant for home charging which is where almost all of our charging takes place). And the interior in those pics isn't the best. The non-GTX color-coordinated interiors look great IMO.

peak rate matters when it really matters though, on the road when you don't want to have to hang around too long. yes charge curve matters too. when i recently charged my ioniq 5 on the road i was pleased to see it suck down 252kw for all if not almost all my charge from 25% or so to 80% in 13 minutes.

Well it must always be a combination of both factors. A decent peak rate doesn’t do much for you if it can’t be sustained for long, so you need to see the real world results before passing judgment. My Lightning, for example, when on a powerful charger will start with a charge rate that’s quite a lot higher than its supposed peak charge rate per its official specs ( which leads owners to conclude that Ford can unlock a better charge curve in future).

I started watching a 3-part Jacksonville to San Diego road trip from the guys at Out of Spec and it's interesting because they've got the Cybertruck which has a great early charge curve (~250kw), but falls off around 35-40% vs. the F150 Lightning which can maintain its charge curve at 100-120 kw range up until ~80%. This is after the F150 got access to superchargers so the network advantage is pretty small between the two. They've also got an R1T and Silverado EV in the mix as well but the guys in the R1T just seem grumpy and the Silverado EV is all about massive legs with its big battery.

Tesla seems to be extremely conservative about the charging curve. On my Model Y, it will drop to the upper 100 range quickly, than hold around 90 kW nearing 60 percent. The good news is that it always finishes faster than the calculated time displayed. I think Tesla is really into maximizing battery life, the latest update will reset charging back to 80 percent after you charge if you set it higher for a trip

We're in a weird spot right now where it's not fast enough to do a 5 minute charge, but if you charge too fast and get done in like 15 minutes it's not enough time to go get a drink or some food

Lol that will definitely be a little bit of an issue while travelling, and even now can be. Usually when I hit the first charger when I'm heading to SoCal, it's about 12 minutes, which is barely enough time to use the restroom. We will usually wait for the second stop, which in most cases is 20 minutes to eat. When the 5-10 minute charging becomes a reality, probably we'll stop to eat, than go to charge after eating.

It's a problem worth having
