Haha nothing to be shocked about. I decided I wanted something a bit more roomy, and higher up riding. When I sat in my friends I knew it was the vehicle for me. And yes, it's the first SUV I've owned, although I've driven several SUV's. Also this will be the family trip car when we go to SoCal. I'm still going to hold on to the Sienna should we need to haul more people or do the Home depot/Lowes runs

EDIT

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, you can lift the floor, and there's more storage space underneath. And it has a pretty spacious "Frunk"
I didn't know about the under floor compartment but I assumed it would have one since my SUVs have them. I have driven a Y and it's decent size wise but I'm of the opinion it's mostly a tall M3 and not quite as well shaped to carry stuff as I would prefer but adequate for the class.

I look forward to seeing the side by side pictures!

Oh and good color choice as well, I like teslas in black or white, the three plaids in my neighborhood are all black and look good. I wish they had more presence though....

Keep in mind you still have the option to do "performance boost" to get acceleration like a model y performance, though for $2k. You can try it out and get a refund if you don't like it (within 24 hours)....

Oof. That's a lot to just get access to the hardware you bought, it's normally $400-900 for a 20-40% uplift. At least you get to try it first

Tesla uses different castings for the Y and 3. Think of it this way...the Model 3 is about as spacious as a Corolla, maybe slightly more, the Model Y is more Camry/Avalon size. Interior dimensions are just slightly more in the Y in the front, but Max cargo capacity is 76.2 cubic inches, behind the second row it's 30.2 cubic inches and another 30.2 cubic inches where the third row would be. while the Model 3's cargo area is 19.8 inches. You could technically fit three people in the backseat of the Model 3, but it would be much tighter than the Model Y. Of course, higher roof in the Y

Haha I told you, software locked . I don't think I'm going to pay another $2K as 425 HP is plenty, but I said the same thing with my Polestar and ended up ordering the performance upgrade (408 hp to 476 hp for $1200). For the Polestar it was worth it, but for the Y I think I'll pass.

not everyone wants a rocket sedan. there's a reason the Y outsells the 3 by a wide margin.

do you have to always bring it back to ice comparisons when you say 'normally'? and as amirza has said and 99.9% of others drivers would agree, 425hp is MORE than enough for a mid size suv.

Because $2000 is much more than normal if you want to allow modern turbo engines an power increase that is 100% safe and still emissions legal. It's only stages past that that require hardware changes and won't pass emissions anymore

They could actually charge $200 or even $100 and make money, but they charge $2000 because people will pay it, and they know it. They would deliver the "unlock" through an OTA update, like Polestar did

Yeah that's fair but I wish it just came with the upgrade working already since the hardware is there. For $200 that would be a steal for that % uplift!

I've learned in my life that there is no free lunch. The good thing is in my mind is that I got a pretty good bargain and everything I wanted in vehicle, and it at least they are not forcing the power upgrade on me. Also if I decide I need more power in the future, it's an option. Also when my vehicle arrives they will try and sell me FSD at a discount. If they discount the power upgrade, I may consider it

I'm excited. Since I don't buy cars often, I live vicariously through the car purchases of others. lol

Saw a new White on White Tesla this week.

Looked brand spankin' shiny and new and I cringed at the idea thinking about trying to keep an all white car inside and outside clean.
I'm gonna put that in the never gonna happen category since I would fail miserably and just give up and drive it filthy. haha

There are so many white Model Y's where I live it's almost bizarre. White or Grey seem to be the popular colors. Some red and blues, but not many black. Daughter and I took the dog for a walk yesterday and we saw a neighbor who had two white brand new Model Y's parked in the driveway. I'm assuming one for him and one for her! Only difference was interior colors, white on white and white on black
