Noob Needs Help with Sub/Amp/LOC Hook-ups and Questions
Hey guys. Okay so this is my first time installing a system into a car and I need your help. I have two problems.
1st - From my stock sub, which wire is the + and which wire is the -?
2nd - my LOC has 5 wires coming out of the unit.
I understand that:
+ & - are for the right speaker
+(second "+" wire) & -(second "-" wire) are for the left speaker
and the black wire is for my ground
But here is the thing: as you know, our ES's came with stock subs and I want to tap into it using the LOC and use the RCA to go to my amp. So my question is how do I do that if my LOC has 5 wires when all I really need is two wires; + & -. Oh and also, do I have to ground the LOC wire?
Another thing. My amp can also use "High Input" as an "alternative" to RCA - is it better than using RCA? Should I use that instead of an LOC? If so how do I hook the High input/output wires to my car?
I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm not sure and that's why I'm asking. I attached two pictures that I hope helps.
Help would be greatly appreciated

hope you get some more replies. i had a loc in my first system, but i had it installed by a shop. but i looked at it quite a few times and i think i "figured it out" their pretty simple, but its been a while so idk if i remember correctly.
im pretty sure you can just use one pair of +/- wires by tapping into the factory sub wires. usually black is the negative, but try finding out which one is negative and positive first, last time i did some wiring on my gs, the black wasnt always negative. and i dont htink you have to ground it. try it with out grounding it, then if it dont work, then ground it. i think if you use just the stock subwoofer wiring you'll be fine with just using one pair. but i guess what you can also do, is use BOTH pairs of +/- wires on the stock sub wires. so figure out which wires on the stock sub are the positive and negative and connect both pairs of negative and positive to each.
so for example if the black wire on the stock sub is the negative, then grab both negative wires on the loc and and tap those into the black wire on the stock sub. and then that would mak the yellow on the stock sub the positive, so then youd grab both the positive wires on the loc and tap those into the positive wire on the sub.
either way man, dont worry about it, its just tapping into the speakers so its not a big deal, you cant really mess up. if u want first try tapping one pair of +/- wires from the loc at a time.
just tap into the factory sub wires with t taps like this:

and then use connectors on the wires of the loc to connect them together. like this:

hope this helps man. but if i was you i would really get a hu!! and i mean really! get a decent one or at least the best you can afford for now, get a metra dash kit in and itl give you MUCH MUCH MUCH better sound!! and not to mention, that itl make things a little easier, especially if you dont have a remote turn on yet for the amp that ur using the loc on. so id really consider a hu if i was you. you can do a headunit and headunit dash kit for 100 bucks if you really tried and just got a whatever hu. and then later on in the future you can upgrade when ur ready to spend more or when u want a better hu.
but i guess the loc is a quick fix and use. thats why i did it at first. but a hu ends up being better. i didnt think so at first but it is.

Thanks a lot robertoyou.
On my LOC I have two green wires and two grey wires. Out of the two green ones, which one is + and which one is -? or does it matter? would I put one green with a grey for my + and the other green and grey as -?
I hate this LOC because even though it shows + - G - + , all the wires come out of the same hole and are bunched together and you can't tell which wire is which
I might just buy a another LOC that has only two wires and can tell which wire is +/-..
Oh and how do I check which wire is - and + on my stock sub? Do I need a tester?
Thanks
