Default Official ES Tint Thread - add your pics here!

I am looking into gettin my front, rear passenger and back windows tinted. My state laws only allow me to get 50% tint which is a major drag. Anyone have a es300 with 50% tint so I can see what it might look like? Another Q...What color should I get? Do you think the platinum stuff is worth the extra money? I dont know if it would look good, maybe kindof ricy...My car is black..contrast might be nice. Any feedback?

thanks in advance

(EDIT: lol, like I misspelled window...meh)

Is 50% even worth putting on at all? 35% is barely noticeable to me.

yeah man I hear ya, I wish I could slap the old limo tint on there, but I'll get tagged. I think I could go as far as 35 but it would be risky, although ive seen a lot of cars around here with a lot darker tint that 50%. I'm going to go to the tinting place and see what they can do for me. I think if I get a sweet color it should be allright. I'm kind of diggin the factory tint on the RX300z. You know what I mean, the green stuff. I think that the 2 tone silver MIGHT look okay if its legal but I just saw a car today with it. I dont know... I'll have to figure it out later

50% is barely worth doing; it will be slightly darker at night, but they don't even really look tinted during the day. I don't think you'd get too much trouble for 35%, still not real dark. I've put 20% on my rear window and rear doors; haven't decided what to do with the fronts yet. I might just go 35% on them to reduce the risk of a ticket, but I think it'd look better all 20%.

I think the mirror kind of tint is illegal here (MN) too.

Yeah, I think your right man. Because they wont let you have anything that reflects more that 20% or somthing 50/20. I'm probably going to do 35%. Caman, what kind of a MN cop pulls ya over for tinted windows, anyways ive seen way to many cars with more tint that 50% this law is bogus!

I know a few people who've gotten tickets for tint, but I don't think they'll pull you over just for tint unless they're bored or you really look shady. It'd be more that they'd nail you for speeding or something and add the tint on top of it.

I guess if I get pulled over, I'll roll down my window and open the sunroof to let a little more light in, and keep my hands visible when he's coming up to the car. They worry about tint since you could be hiding or doing something illegal, or have a weapon and attack him when he comes up to the car; so they appreciate whatever you can do to make them more comfortable approaching you. I'd probably also argue that it's to protect my expensive stereo system, maybe that'd get a little mercy and no ticket.

yeah, and its safe to have tint in case of an accident so the windows dont shatter all up in your eyes. I just cant see why 50% on the rear 3. It makes no sence. If you have a truck you can do anything to the rear 3, same with a van. OH well. I'll see what 50% looks like, has to be better than nothing and at least it gets rid of the UV crap.

My old car had 50% on all the windows; almost pointless but I did get to see first hand the effects in an accident. I got rear ended and the entire back window was sitting in the street, blown out of the car and shattered but all in one piece.

Just do what you want and forget about the cops.. you can get out of the tickets easily.. I have gotten a lot of warnings and such, and If I got a ticket i just take it to court, they ask you if you took it off, and they throw the ticket out. It is worth it most of the time for it to look better.

Here in NC, i think the law is you can have any tint level on the rear 3 windows, and 35% on the front maximum.

I live here in Utah and the tint limit is 35% all the way around. My car however has 10% all the way around. Been pulled over for speeding a couple of times and not one cop said anything bout it (knock on wood). Here's a pic so you have an idea.
