Apple Car Play

Does anyone know if you can bypass the navigation package and just use Apple Car Play instead? I realize you won’t have navigation if you are out of cell phone coverage, but that doesn’t happen very often where I live.

If you mean have the system "boot" straight to CarPlay... no. You have to allow the system to boot, then go to CarPlay.

But I go straight to CarPlay and Waze every day...

I meant, not ordering navigation, and just using Apple CarPlay. Saving $1800.

In retrospect, I should have understood that.

I believe "Yes", will work fine, but with a smaller physical display. Just verify that the vehicle has CarPlay, before a certain production date it was only on units with Nav.

CarPlay is standard on all 2019 ES models produced after 10/1/2018. However, if you don't pay for the higher package you don't get the large 12.3" screen. I thin it is 8".
