ES350 UL How to use Android Auto + USB Music
Hey all, scored my UL this evening after a journey!
When I am playing music from my USB flash drive all is well...until I plug in my phone....even before pressing the android auto button on the screen my music cuts out and the flash drive disappears as a source.
Any input as to how to correct this?
Thanks.

That kinda sucks. For the past 4 years I've been driving a $39,000 caddy ATS where I could do both....I mean, I guess if I gotta live with it, I can live with it..but I hope that isn't the case.
Knowing Lexus/Toyota, it's most likely the case. One method you could try is plugging in your phone first then plugging in the flash drive and see if it'll come up as a media source. If not, then it's not possible.
Alright, thank you. Any idea if the Nav in the car works as well as Android Auto?
Tonight taking it back from the dealership it was routing me in all sortsa wrong directions....like an hour wrong....going from north jersey to Queens.(which is easy)
Maybe I should have edited route preferences and made sure everything was set to 'Off' ??
Might have to start a new thread for that.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna get into the owner's manual this weekend. I cracked it open for a few last night but couldn't find this section.
Either way, this does kind of suck because I'm going from having the ability to use android auto with a flash drive for music to......not.....and the cost is considerably higher.
Today I'm gonna be more focused on getting the Navigation to actually work properly because maybe if it works well enough I will just avoid android auto altogether.

As far as Music on USB, you could probably save the music on yor Android and play it through your phone on the car.
I have not had any saved music since Spotify came around.
As far as Navigation. You have google maps and Waze on your phone which is displayed through Android Auto. I find the integrated Navigation to be far, far inferior to Google maps and Waze. Outdated map data (even if the map is updated to latest version, it is still months old), very incomplete traffic data and poor route planning. Just my experience.

I agree! I just surrendered my 2020 Chevy Bolt due to GM buyback and bought a 2022 (new) IS 350 F-Sport and it's great BUT won't play my USB music when using Android auto. The Bolt allowed this! Here is my progress so far. I've installed the YouTube Music App. I've just joined YouTube Premium to get rid of ads on YT and YouTube Music is included. I've downloaded some of my MP3's to the Music folder of my Pixel phone and they can play when using Android Auto through the YouTube app. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress since I've only loaded 5 songs and have about 20Gb of music.
