I get my 2019 ES F Sport at the end of last year. It seems like I always need to make an extra effort on the brake to slow down the car. The brakes on my other cars (2012 Lexus RX and 2016 Acura TLX) work much sharply than 2019 ES.
Much appreciate if you can share your experience on the brake. Thanks.
My brakes work fine. The only thing is that when I'm at a stop light, it takes a little too much pressure on the brake pad to keep the car still. When that happens, I just use the HOLD feature. The problem with that is when I got to the next stop light, I forget that the HOLD feature is on and I don't like that.
DavidZ has a good description for my concerns. It seems to take a lttle more pressure on the brake pedal to keep the car still or slow down the car comparing to other cars I have. Before I check out on the dealer, I need to materialize my concerns.
With the auto hold feature enabled, I am able to stop the car completely, but not activate the auto hold feature. I think this maybe what we're experiencing, the gap in brake pressure that allows this to happen. At first I found it a bit disconcerting, but now I like having the option, especially in stop and go traffic.

You see the yellow HOLD indicator light when it's enabled?
Mine work as well as I would want them to. I have driven some BMW sports versions that you barely touch and they felt like they were going to throw you through the windshield.
When the system is enabled, you should see "hold standby indicator" sign. When you see yellow "HOLD", the car is actually stopped (w/o pressing brake pedal).
I like the HOLD feature, especially at those long red lights.
The brakes don't seem overly sensitive, and actually worked pretty well when some d*ckwad shot across three lanes to make a right turn directly in front of my car.

Yes, of course. Wasn't it clear from my post that I use the HOLD feature and, in fact, it's still on at the next stoplight (sometimes to my surprise)? How could that happen without the yellow HOLD indicator light coming on?

You said you forget it's on so I thought perhaps you weren't seeing that yellow light.

Perhaps I didn't make my point as clearly as I thought. My point is that I like the way the HOLD feature works, in that, you can take your foot off the brake while at a stop light. Particularly since the ES seems to require more than the typical amount of foot pressure on the brake pad to keep the car perfectly still. What I don't like is that at the next stop light, if I forget that the HOLD feature is enabled, when the light turns green and I take my foot off the brake, the car doesn't move until I put my foot on the gas. If I forget that that HOLD feature is enabled, I find this experience a bit startling. That's why I wish there was a once and done option. That option would turn the HOLD feature off as soon as you put your foot on the gas. That way at the next stop light, the car would be back to normal mode with the HOLD feature off.
The pads don't have much initial bite. My car stops fine, but I also felt like I needed to push the pedal further when I first bought it. Now that I've had the car about a year I don't notice anymore.
