OP here..... Yesterday when I was on a small 'road trip' and had my Navigation Set, I happened to notice that on my HUD display, the compass had been replaced with my next turn on my navigation as well as the distance of the next turn. I did not change any settings at all. I was using Android Auto and Google Maps just like always.

So, today, I used the Navigation, the compass was back on the HUD and no turns were indicated. If I get time next week, I might call Lexus connect and ask them what is going on with this. Right now it seems like a complete crap shoot.

I'm willing to bet no turns show up on the HUD unless you're 2 miles or less from the next turn.
Try it and let me know.

Yes, I tried that just today, as well as most everyday since I've owned the car. Yesterday was the first time that I noticed any Nav Info on my HUD.
I tried to reproduce it today with no luck.

Hmm…

I don't know if it is possible, but something that could produce route guidance display on the Heads Up Display (HUD) at the same time you're running Android Auto Google Maps route guidance is that the Lexus Cloud Navigation is simultaneously running route guidance to the same destination. For most routes, the routing algorithms for Google Maps and Lexus Cloud Navigation will most likely generate the same route with the same direction guidance, so what you would see for route guidance on the Android Auto Google Maps display screen would be perfectly in sync with Lexus Cloud Navigation route guidance sent to and displayed on the HUD.

I think one way to check if that's the case is the next time you see route guidance being displayed on the HUD while running Android Auto Google Maps route guidance, switch out of Android Auto to the native Lexus Interface system and see if the native Lexus Navigation map is running a route guidance to the same destination.

That would make sense! - I think that you're on to something!

This is just another reason the ES350 just does not impress me. Now that they have eliminated the ICE 6 cylinder engine from their lineup and the new 2026 ES design completely sucks, this will be the last Lexus I will ever purchase.

OK, the mystery is solved ! --- It is exactly as @grp52 has described. I tried it myself this morning. What happens to me is when I am using my Voice to control Navigation and I forget to say 'Hey Google' the Lexus Navigation executes my Nav Command. Then I say 'Hey Google' and execute the Android Auto command. So, now they are both running and the Lexus Navigation is the one on the HUD display. Not the Android Auto.

Edit : --- Now another question.... Is it possible to 'Shut Off' the Lexus Navigation, as it is mostly getting in the way of Android Auto?

From what I understand the IS will be discontinued or completely drop the V6 and will be left with the turbo 4 which I hate.

Small turbo or hybrid seems to be the choice of the future.
Yes my V6 ES may be the last new car for me. As Savage Geese's video about the ES "Take it to the grave".

I am hoping that with the EV mandate going away, Toyota and other manufacturer's will reconsider their decision to abandon the internal combustion engine.

Toyota/Lexus designs and builds vehicles for the global market. While the US federal EV mandate has been rescinded, other markets, such as the European market, still have EV a or EV forcing zero emission mandates. Unless a vehicle manufacturer is willing to completely abandon vehicle sales in all the remaining mandate market areas, economic realities are still going to be arm twisting vehicle manufacturers into abandoning the internal combustion engine.

It might be a bit drastic, but cancelling your Drive Connect subscription would permanently shut off Lexus Navigation until such time as you signed up again for a Drive Connect subscription. A downside to that is it would lobotomize the Intelligent Assistant voice command system by restricting what can be controlled by voice command and eliminating usage of cloud-based enhanced recognition of voice command variations. Also, if you currently make use of Destination Assistant, that feature would also be shut off.

But, before going with the drastic solution, exactly what is it about Lexus Navigation that's getting in the way of Android Auto?

If you can, be specific about what are the Lexus Navigation things that are getting in the way of Android Auto usage. There may be some ways of setting Lexus Interface configuration settings that would suppress those "getting in the way" things without having to resort to cancelling your 3-year "free" Drive Connect trial subscription.

Not a huge deal,,,,, But if I am following a Navigation Route and Have my Google Map displayed on the Screen, and then I want to check on a Football score or something and I push the Voice Button the Entire screen is replaced with the Lexus Purple Screen, until I say 'Hey Google". So, there are two Navigation Systems taking orders and causing problems like the one that this thread is about.

It would be more seamless, if there was a setting that could disable the Lexus Nav system, while Android Auto was running. Again, not a big deal, it just causes extra confusion to the driver.

Are you aware there's a way to use the steering wheel "Voice Button" to directly get to the Google Assistant voice command system without invoking the native Lexus Interface Intelligent Assistant voice command system?

On pages 106 and 107 in the "Using Android Auto with a USB connection" and "Using Android Auto with wireless connection" section of the 2025 LEXUS ES250, ES350, ES300H MULTIMEDIA OWNER'S MANUAL USA AND CANADA ONLY:
● While Android Auto is connected, press and hold the [stylized speaking head icon] switch on the steering to start Google Assistant™. To cancel Google Assistant™, perform a short press of the [stylized speaking head icon] switch on the steering.
The same press and hold method works while Apple CarPlay is running to start Apple's Siri voice command assistant.

I was not aware that you had to 'press and hold' the button. I was just pressing the button and getting the following screen --- So, Thanks for this.... I will forget to hold the button sometimes, so it would still be nice to have a setting to bypass the L.I.I.A. v.c.s. - I really never want to see this screen.
