Electronic Gremlins Again!
On a side note, Toyota’s track record with infotainment updates isn’t the strongest. There were early discussions about the 2019 U.S. RAV4 getting Android Auto through a software update, but it never materialized. Not even as a paid upgrade.[/QUOTE]
Going to buy a 2020 in November 2019 and assured it had android auto as it was in brochure and during test drive tried to find it and could not as it was a pre october production. Told them I had heard that the 2019 was going to get it because it was available overseas with software update. Dealer called Lexus and there reply was it will never happen. Bought a Dec build.

No phone required for real time traffic. It’s all through the Lexus platform. My wife and I often question why it takes us off our route then we see the traffic backed up as we drive by it. We don’t question it anymore. We just follow instructions.
Update: I went and picked up my car this morning. Everything they did to it was computer related and they took nothing apart.
What’s interesting is they told me the wrong version of firmware was installed on my car. They had the updated version and installed it. That corrected some of the issues but they still needed the yet to be released software update for the repair to be complete. Lexus has only released it to their Regional representatives. The rep for my dealer lives three hours away and he’s not supposed to give it to the dealers yet. Because my dealer could not fully resolve my issues without it the rep relented and sent it to them. It (knock on wood) fixed my Nav issues.
I had to spend an hour at the dealer with the tech in my car with me trying to get the car to recognize my Lexus app so I wouldn’t have to reprogram everything. I even had to delete the app, reinstall it, log back in, and wait for the car to recognize my profile. The updates also reset some of the settings that had nothing to do with the Nav system so we had to go through those one at a time to get the car as it was when they got it on July 21st.
I hope this nonsense is over.

I left the dealership and still had one gremlin the tech said was a problem with my iPhone and that Apple was going to have an update to correct it. I called Apple and they said no such update was needed. My problems weren’t solved.
On Thursday my F Sport turned into a 2026 BMW 540i xDrive. Someone else can leave that car at Lexus when it has issues. BMW gave me a great deal and so far I’m very happy with that car.
Enjoy your cars. I have to believe that I got a lemon and I was tired of dealing with it. Three weeks in the dealer’s shop and not getting completely repaired was too much for me.

I had a problem with my Genesis once where they immediately scheduled a complete replacement of the Head Unit.... I never had it done, as it turned out to be a problem with Sirus/XM traffic that was causing the Navigation to Freeze. XM Traffic had sent down some bad software and the problem was corrected about 2 weeks later. They downloaded the update to everyone. But it did not affect everyone. Only those that had the trial period of XM Traffic. But the Genesis dealership was completely willing to do the replacement. Others on the Genesis Forum had theirs replaced... I think the Head Unit was around $6 Grand. This was back in 2020.

I just realized that my car could have this very problem though I'm completely unaware as I don't run any apps. Sometimes less is more so why don't they make the screen removable. Was I was born 13 years too late.

I think you're far too young to not embrace technology. I'm 74 and I personally love these technological features. I've got friends that 'hate' technology. They are still writing checks and sending them in the mail. Embrace learning and you'll stay young. As Clint Eastwood says "Don't let the old man in".

I've built music servers with terabytes of storage from scratch loading and modifying Windows to it's bare minimum for minimizing noise and to boost efficiency. Today I find it too mind numbing to load music files on a thumb drive. As far as writing checks I may write two a year meanwhile I move retirement funds around the country from my computer on which I do a yearly clean install. So tell me, what is it about tech that you find so lovable. Is it toting around your personal tracking device and linking it everything around you. I think people are so lonely they need that permalink in their pocket so they feel connected to it all. I don't.
