So tell me, what is it about tech that you find so lovable. Is it toting around your personal tracking device and linking it everything around you. I think people are so lonely they need that permalink in their pocket so they feel connected to it all. I don't.
Well, it's always good to get rid of a Lemon.... I was delighted when I got rid of my 2007 GS350 (Rattles that no one could fix) .................. I have not followed all of your posts, so you may have already explained this. But I'll ask did they ever completely replace your Navigation/Entertainment 'head unit' ?
No they did not replace my head unit. They ruled that out as the problem.
It’s funny that you mentioned rattles. I had one somewhere around the console that drove me nuts unless I had the music turned up. It could never be replicated by the dealer either. I was trying to get the electronics repaired. If they started pulling anything apart I was going to ask them to tighten everything up. I never got that far.
I use a Garmin that has free lifetime map updates. Use it here and also used it to travel Europe and Australia by car. Very accurate and with free updates always current. Use it in my Lexus and Corvette. Maps in the Lexus now almost 7 years old. And don't have to use any of my limited data on the phone either.
I bought one many years ago, before cars and phones had nav. Returned it because it was too much of a pain in the butt and not worth the effort.
Where I thought it was easy to use and non-intrusive and a simple to use alternative to a complex linking of software that can and does go wrong. Not that I ever have had any trouble with the several I have owned if I did I would just go get another. No time at the dealership wasted no hours of troubleshooting and frustration just go get another one.
Unless I am wrong from what I read Garmin requires a smart phone for real time nav which I consider important. For anyone that is tired of or doesn't want advanced teck just maps and directions would be available. I for one welcome and look forward to advancing teck and learning where as my wife wants it as simple as it can be. Everybody is different.

Real time directions, navigation, and no phone required. The Garmin connects to the satellite itself.

Per Google AI:
Garmin real-time traffic information is generally not available without a smartphone connection. While some older Garmin devices used to receive traffic data via an external receiver (like a cable with a built-in FM receiver), these methods are now discontinued. To get real-time traffic updates on newer Garmin devices, you typically need to pair your device with a smartphone via Bluetooth and use the Garmin Drive app or Smartphone Link app to receive the data.
For those who still value their privacy Garmin has no tracking or data collection.

Yes, Garmin devices collect and track a wide range of data, including location, activity, and personal information. This data is used to provide various features like GPS tracking, activity analysis, and personalized insights.
